Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin (Pre-show, No DQ Match)
Another day, another pointless match between Corbin and Ziggler, the only competitor Corbin has actually faced since winning the Battle Royal at WrestleMania. WWE had an opportunity to prove there is no curse when winning the battle royal but failed to do so. Let’s hope Corbin strongly goes over within 3 minutes and moves on to other things.
Winner: Corbin
The Miz vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn (Fatal 4-Way, Intercontinental Championship)
Definitely will be a contender for match of the night, with 4 talented individuals who all know how to put on a show and entertain. I expect big spots from Cesaro, Owens and Zayn with Miz using Maryse on the odd occasions. WWE have really made this an interesting encounter, balancing title importance and personal rivalries. The winner has to take the IC title to a new level and really show its true meaning and worth.
Winner: Cesaro
Charlotte vs. Natalya (Submission Match, Women’s Championship)
I’ve enjoyed the amount of main event spotlight put on the women’s match. While the use of Flair has been on levels of idiotic, him being in the picture has definitely brought more eyes to watch. Ultimately, Charlotte is a great heel champion, who may end up turning on Ric Flair herself to prove she can hold her own. After the fantastic match at WrestleMania for the Women’s Championship, there is no denying Sasha Banks will be the new contender for the title when she returns.
Winner: Charlotte
The New Day vs. The Vaudevillains (Tag Team Championships)
The New Day really have managed to keep comedic value during this feud and at the same time kept The Vaudevillains strong. Since we haven’t seen Enzo since his concussion at Payback, and the Big Cass does not have a match (despite destroying everyone on Raw), I expect Enzo and Cass to interfere as Enzo gets his retribution. This could setup a triple threat tag match for the tag team titles leading to SummerSlam.
Winner: The New Day
Kalisto vs. Rusev (United States Championship)
Currently the most meaningless title on the roster which is in desperate need of a reboot. Kalisto has not done much with the title other than defeating Ryback. I’d much rather see the title elevate Rusev to the heights he once reached and thus elevating the meaning of the title. Whether it has been bad booking or Kalisto’s lack of awareness that he could take the title and run with it, this reign has been dull.
Winner: Rusev
Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho (Asylum Match)
Ambrose has been poorly booked for some time now, with the loss at WrestleMania really bringing any momentum to an end. A heel Jericho however, has been able to bring some spark back. This feud could have been special but when the root of it is down to talk shows, potted plans and ruined jackets, it doesn’t make a very interesting encounter. Ambrose needs the momentum and the win to take him closer to the WWE World Heavyweight championship picture closer to SummerSlam.
Winner: Ambrose
Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles (Extreme Rules Match, WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
Another contender for match of the night is my prediction. The first encounter was an amazing match with fantastic spots between these two. Not only did AJ Styles show how phenomenal (pun intended) her really is, it also showed Roman can hang with the big guns. I expect them to exceed the bar say from the previous match, with even more creative and dangerous spots. The one I want to see is Styles going for a Phenomenal Forearm which is countered to a spear. Roman will most likely be the champion walking out, leading to a Rollins return so soon enough.
Winner: Roman Reigns
