Hello and welcome to the newest column from myself Game Over Gary. This will be much like my current Raw Revisited column, which you can go back and read a bunch of here. NXT, for those who don’t know, is WWE’s developmental territory where the up and coming “superstars of the future” hone their skills before making that leap to the main roster.
NXT is where the real wrestling happens, but since it is a 1 hour show with typically only 3 matches per week, this will be a lot shorter than your average Raw Revisited. So without further ado, lets get started with the inaugural NXT Revisited (complete with banner by the awesome Adam O’Brien).
Get On The Exotic Express…While It Lasts
As we saw on Raw this week, Adam Rose and his Exotic Express are headed for the main roster. For me this seems a bit quick. It was only 4 – 6 weeks ago that Adam Rose (the former Leo Kruger) debuted on NXT, and while he is entertaining and has a gimmick that could really resonate with large crowds, he could have spent more time cultivating and perfecting this gimmick down in Full Sail with NXT.
The match with Danny Burch (the most British looking British man I have ever seen!) was short and sweet as most Adam Rose matches have been. This is another problem with the quick move to the main roster; he hasn’t had many matches and the ones he has had have amounted to little more than squashes. There is a little thing called paying dues, and I don’t think Adam Rose (as a character at least) has paid his yet. At least let him feud with Tyler Breeze first, because that is a match made in HEAVEN!!
Bayley To Belly: Adorable
Bayley is adorable. Everything about her, from her Anime-self in her entrace video, to the dinaosaur on the leg of her ring gear, she’s just great. She is the furthest thing from a cookie cutter diva we have seen since Paige (maybe even more so). Suffice to say, I’m a fan. So its always nice when she gets a chance to shine on NXT. Due to the limited timing on the show, not every character shows up every week (not even the womens or NXT champion) so it makes us appreciate them more when they do.
Its been a couple of weeks since Bayley has wrestled on NXT so this week was extra special. When Paige wrestled at NXT: Arrival a few weeks ago, it was the first time she had wrestled on the show in 8 weeks (as far as I know) so the crowd was all over it. That’s the other great thing about NXT, the crowd. They are so into it, and they really get behind people. It almost makes me hope that some of these people never get called up to the main roster so they can continue to revel in the atmosphere down in NXT.
Anyway, that went way off topic. Bayley got the win over “The Boss” Sasha Banks with the “Bayley-to-Belly” suplex. Adorable.
I Don’t Get Hyped, And I Really Don’t Get Mojo Rawley
I just don’t get it guys. He’s a former footballer that spend way too much time outside the ring slapping hands before the match that he’s more gassed than Batista before it even starts, and his main offence is “I hit you with my ass”. We are trying to move away from this type of guy so please, lets have less Mojo and more Tyler Breeze, Sami Zayn and even Corey Graves.
Brodus Clay: Main Event Player (On NXT)
People forgot about Brodus Clay fast didn’t they? Tensai is announcing on NXT now (as Jason Albert) and Brodus has decided that in order to be a main event playa, he has to step down into NXT. I don’t like this because it takes the spotlight off of other guys who have been working in NXT for a long time. It’s also an obvious feud with an obvious result as there is no way that Brodus is taking that belt from Adrian Neville.
Bo-ccupy NXT
Just like Adam Rose, Bo Dallas is on his way to the main roster now. However, unlike Rose, Bo has been cutting his teeth on NXT for a long while now, even racking up a 200+ day reign as NXT Champion before dropping the belt to Adrian Neville back at NXT Arrival.
Originally, I thought this segment was being done as Bo’s leaving promo, but it turned out to just be a throwaway segment that allowed JBL (who is the NXT general manager) to interrupt, speak some Afrikaans and bring out Justin Gabriel for a match with Bo.
The match itself, was pretty good. I am not the biggest Bo fan, and I’m not an anything of Justin Gabriel because he’s so irrelevant to me! I think Bo will do well in the midcard of WWE, maybe even getting a US title run at some point, but don’t expect Bo to be lighting up the main event of Wrestlemania any time soon.
Bo-lieve in that.
That’s gonna do it for the first ever NXT Revisited. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you continue to come back every Saturday for more.Remember to like, comment and share this as much as you can and if you do, we can be friends…..on Twitter.
Peace.
