Welcome to the dungeon!
At this moment in time, the WWE has two excellent feuds taking place. Since the start of their feud, Evolution and The Shield have been brilliant to watch and their upcoming match at Payback looks to be better than their match at Extreme Rules. There’s no doubt they will do everything they possibly can to make it the match of the night.
John Cena and Bray Wyatt are also having an incredible feud which I hope lasts until SummerSlam. Bray is getting over with the fans with every passing week and the longer this feud lasts, they better it will be for his career.
There’s only been one problem with these two feuds – it shows the lack of depth in the main-event roster when it comes to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
All three members of The Shield and Bray Wyatt have the potential to be main-event stars, Randy Orton, Batista and John Cena are already there having been former WWE Champions, but having these two feuds at the same time leaves no-one ready to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
If CM Punk hadn’t walked out on the company, he would be in the perfect position to be challenging Daniel Bryan for the championship as his work as a heel has always been brilliant. The WWE would have been in a very strong position right now if Punk hadn’t left.
Something is going to have to change soon in the WWE to establish credible, main-event stars who can fill the gap in the WWE Championship picture.
At this current time we won’t know what is going to happen with Daniel Bryan and his WWE World Heavyweight Championship until Raw this Monday. If he keeps the championship, who is going to challenge him for it?
The WWE can stick with Kane but I think that will just damage Bryan as he is not a credible threat to make us believe he could become champion. As I said two weeks ago, Kane is past his sell-by-date.
We know that in a year’s time, the main-event picture could be filled with stars ready to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Shield, Bray Wyatt and Cesaro are the most likely candidates to be on a level with Randy Orton, Batista and John Cena but right now the lack of depth is clear to see.
Should the WWE have split up The Shield when they had the chance?
If they had of done so, then I believe Roman Reigns could have been feuding the Ambrose and Rollins right now which would have left Orton and Batista to feud with Daniel Bryan over the championship. It may not be what everyone would have wanted but at least the main-event scene would have had some star power.
Even if the WWE had of continued to develop The Shield and The Wyatt Family feud then John Cena could have been in the championship scene right now. Again, most people would probably grumble at that thought but at least the championship scene wouldn’t look weak like it does now.
Daniel Bryan needs to keep the WWE World Heavyweight Championship but because the WWE have failed to fill their roster quick enough over the last few years and build up their mid-card stars, he won’t have a credible opponent that will help establish him as a champion to take the company into the future.
The WWE Championship is the most important title in wrestling and the WWE should being doing everything in their power to have stars ready at anytime to step up when needed but right now there is no-one.
