We are edging closer and closer to the Night of Champions PPV, the night that every single title has to be defended. This is classic WWE sort of labelling, and theoretically, most titles should be defended at most PPVs. But we can skip over that part…
So one of the matches on the card is not for a title, and it is the match where The Wyatt Family will take on Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a mystery partner. With NOC only pretty much a week away, we still don’t know who the partner might be. Well, let’s run through the contenders.
Erik Rowan
This was not really a contender for me, but something I have read across various websites as a possible rumour. Now for me, Rowan should have never left the side of Bray Wyatt. Rowan is not really a babyface sort of character, and although Wyatt gets a face sort of reaction, he is really a heel. With Rowan’s style and size, he has to be the intimidating monster who the faces fear.
Let’s be honest, this would be a terrible way to go. Rowan would join Reigns and Ambrose and it will all be forgotten about fairly soon, to no real finish. If anything, Rowan should reunite with The Wyatt Family, to make them a group of bearded giants that go on to dominate the entire roster. Maybe even add Bo Dallas and Sheamus to the mix to create a truly reckon-able force. That, would be awesome.
Jimmy Uso
Now I did think about Jimmy Uso before this week’s SmackDown, where we were teased to this possible outcome. I won’t say more in case you have yet to watch SmackDown.
In theory, this choice has the most logic. Dean and Roman had always seen each other as brothers, and Roman and Jimmy are actual cousins. The philosophy of family looking out for their own, coming to help them when they need it, all makes sense. However, the recent showing on SmackDown does cause some doubt as to whether this may happen as I get the feeling we are being teased to a return of some kind.
It was definitely good seeing at least one of the Usos back as they are always full of energy and have fun in the ring. I hope to see more of Roman and Jimmy working together, maybe creating a Samoan Dynasty kind of group, just don’t think this is when we will see the birth of it.
Daniel Bryan
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is my favourite choice out of them all. Rumours are that Bryan is fit and ready to compete, which is good news for all as Bryan is really being missed right now. Daniel Bryan has hand his own issues with The Wyatt Family in the past, and has shown respect for both Roman and Ambrose.
Not only does this decision make sense in terms of storyline, it brings about a surprise return of a deep fan favourite and at the same time solidifies their team as the faces in this match. I guess the only factor is the size difference between Daniel Bryan and Braun Strowman, which is not favourable. I guess the issue is dependant on who goes over. If The Wyatt Family are to win, then Bryan returning to a loss does not make sense.
Either way, let’s hope Bryan returns sooner than later.
Seth Rollins
Could it be? Could we just about see the return of The Shield? This is definitely something out the box, even for me. Rollins already has two matches in the night against John Cena and Sting, but why not add a third to the mix?
That moment when The Wyatt Family are in the ring, awaiting for the arrival of their opponents for the evening, and we hear: Sierra, Hotel…
Now this is far fetched and would not happen, but reigniting The Shield/Wyatt feud is definitely mouth watering and could help close the night too. A heel turn in which Roman and Dean finally accept Rollins was right to join The Authority, aiding his victory against Sting and Cena later in the night, for all members to dominate once again.
Wishful thinking.
That’s all from me. Have a good weekend. Til next week.
