Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Wrestling Brain. I hope everyone has had a good week, unfortunately I haven’t I have been struggling with the flu, however I promise that there will be a Wrestling Brain article every Monday.
So whether this your first ever Wrestling Brain article you’ve read or not, I hope you enjoy what I’m doing because I know I am, however if you don’t like my articles please feel free to comment below.
Anyway moving onto to this week’s article; Who is superstar of the year?
Since Kevin Owens claimed that he was superstar of the year on this week’s Main Event it led me to think, who mine would be, so in Booker T fashion I’ll be doing my “Fave Five” of WWE superstars of 2015. (Only superstars who are on the main roster will feature)
5) Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar kicked off his 2015 with a match of the year candidate against Seth Rollins and John Cena in a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV. Brock dominated the early going of the match, until Cena and Rollins teamed up and put the Beast through the table. However, Brock got back up and retained his title in impressive fashion, but this is Brock’s only PPV victory thus far in 2015. Defeats at Wrestlemania, Battleground and more recently at Summerslam, has meant that Brock has suffered has worst win/loss record year since his return in 2012. However the Beast has main evented 3 out the 4 PPV he has competed in 2015 and despite losing 3 matches, he has played a vital role for WWE in 2015 and will continue his role throughout the rest of the year.
4) Dean Ambrose
Dean Ambrose broke a duck at Extreme Rules as he won his first PPV match since The Shield beat Evolution at Payback 2014, since then he has had a career resurgence whether it be battling his nemesis Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber and Money In The Bank or battling with his friend Roman Reigns in high profiled matches against The Wyatt Family. He receives the biggest pop from the crowd most nights and rightfully should end 2015 as a main eventer whether it’s as a babyface or a heel, but the future looks bright for the Lunatic Fringe.
3) Roman Reigns
Despite the fan backlash at the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns is still one of WWE’s top faces at the moment and his résumé for 2015 spells out main eventing the biggest PPV of year and winning the biggest match of the year, but more recently he is receiving better fan reaction towards the end of the year than the start of the year. He is involved in WWE’s second biggest feud at the moment and when John Cena takes time off after Hell In A Cell, expect to see Roman Reigns be pushed as the number one face for the reminder of the year.
2) John Cena
Hands down this has been John Cena’s best year ever as a WWE superstar and he is worthy to be taking time off for the rest of the year, any match John Cena has been involved in especially since the start of the US Open Challenge have been good. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Rusev, Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Neville, Sami Zayn and Brock Lesnar are all names that have faced John Cena this year in mostly high quality matches, but there is one man who has had a better year than all these wrestlers and he truly is the future of the WWE.
1) Seth Rollins
He has been voted as the PWI wrestler of year, he has been the WWE World Heavyweight Champion since Wrestlemania and quite frankly he has been destined for greatness since he debuted with The Shield. Rollins has faced some of the biggest names ever in wrestling history in one year, he has faced Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Randy Orton and Sting. His performances in the ring have been memorable for all of the year and he has been the number one heel throughout the whole of the year, but more importantly his heel gimmick still feels fresh and new despite it lasting for 16 months. He is the opposite to Dean Ambrose, every State he goes to receives boo’s and you sold out chants night after night. Also ever since his main roster debut he has not had any time off, whether it be filming a movie or sustaining an injury. This is Seth’s first reign as a champion, but expect him to have many more whether it be a heel champion or a face champion, Seth Rollins is here to stay, he will garner many more PWI wrestler of year and truly deserves superstar of the year.
That’s all from me this week, stay safe and well, hope everyone enjoys RAW tonight and remember join me next week only on SLTD Wrestling, but until why not check out more content available on SLTD Wrestling.
