Tybo Top Five… Returns To WWE

With the WWE Championship now vacant and the WWE Championship Tournament well under way, I have to say I was expecting more. I think the superstars involved are all good at what they do and will create some good matches, but I don’t think many of them are WWE Championship material yet.

I think this WWE Championship Tournament has exposed WWE’s lack of main stars who could carry the WWE Championship. It seems everyone (including me) has already concluded that Roman Reigns is going to win the WWE Championship. The only possible ‘shock’ will be is if Sheamus cashes-in at the end.

It’s for this reason that this week I am looking at my (Tybo) Top Five Returns to WWE.

Kurt Angle

I think Angle is the most obvious superstar that would be on this list. Kurt Angle is in my opinion the greatest wrestler of all time. Yes, I know he is the wrong side of forty and probably isn’t what the WWE is looking for right now, but I really do believe that he has one more run in him. As of writing this Kurt is a free agent, and there is no denying that if he was brought back in to the company, the fans would go absolutely crazy. I think he could easily fit into the WWE Championship picture, and could be a believable contender for the vacant title. I’m not saying Angle should win the WWE Title, but to do what Sting done would be great to see.

Optional, imagine how good Alberto Del Rio vs. Kurt Angle for the United States Championship would be? It is a dream match, and with Del Rio now calling the United States Championship the ‘Mex-American Championship’ the storyline writes it’s self in my eyes.

The knowledge and training Angle could also provide in the WWE Performance Centre is undeniable. He would be prefect for that role in my opinion, as he without a doubt knows what it takes to be a legend in the business.

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy is a lot like Kurt Angle for me in the sense that he could very easily slip into the WWE Championship picture, and he would without a doubt get an insane pop from the fans. Again, I’m not saying Hardy should be the WWE Champion but he is a believable contender, and that is what WWE is missing right now. As with Angle (maybe even more so) Hardy’s past is probably holding him back in returning and becoming any sort of major player in the company but if done correctly Jeff could add something that is missing from WWE at the moment.

If Jeff was to come back, there is the added potential of Matt Hardy coming back too and The Hardy’s entering back into the Tag Team Division. I think this could be great for the Tag Division, much like the return of The Dudley’s a few months ago the Tag Team Division is now hotter than ever, and adding more legitimate teams in my opinion is the best way to keep that momentum going, and there is no doubt The Hardy’s could do that.

John Morrison

John Morrison should have, and could have been WWE Champion when he was with the company; he was getting a rock star reaction from fans and was great and innovative on the ring. I really don’t think Morrison would return to the WWE, because of all the rumours about why he was released but regardless it would be awesome to see.

Morrison has recently been working for Lucha Underground and if you have watched it you will know that he has not lost a step, he is awesome in the ring and looks like a champion. If you have not watched it, I strongly suggest you check it out, if you are a wrestling fan you will not be disappointed.

I think Morrison really could be a credible WWE Champion if he was to return, but I always thought that. I really think he adds something different in the ring, and would have some great matches with the current talent.

Carlito

WWE have been looking for a top Hispanic superstar since Ray Mysterio left, and I think they have that now in the returning Alberto Del Rio. But as far as I am aware WWE did reach out to Carlito without success. Carlito may not have been WWE Champion material when he was originally in WWE, but with such a huge emphasis on the United States Championship at the minute Carlito would have been a perfect accusation.

If you remember Carlito won the United States Championship from John Cena in his debut, now if it had played out the way WWE wanted (and I would have loved) Carlito would have been Cena’s opponent at Hell in a Cell not Del Rio. This means that Carlito would have returned and repeated history in beating John Cena in his first match. This would have been amazing, and could have catapulted Carlito into the main event with John Cena not around for the next few weeks.

Drew McIntyre

Drew Mcintyre, the chosen one was relegated to being a jobber in a faction before he left, I’m not sure there is any lower you could go on the superstar scale than this. I honestly think the best thing for McIntyre was for him to be released. I have said this before but no wrestler should waste there best years in WWE catering hoping there is a lumberjack match, or to be chosen to be used in a 2 minute squash match.

Since leaving McIntyre has become a main event player in TNA known as Drew Galloway, and has shown that he still has what it takes to put on a great match. I think now is a perfect time for McIntyre to return and be the WWE Champion he should of always been. He could come back as the ‘Chosen One’ because there is no denying that he was a great heel and a great intercontinental champion. With Rollins being out of action for the next few months I think it would have been great if The Authority brought in a new ‘Chosen One’ and who better than Vince’s chosen one?

So there you have it, Tybo’s Top Five… Return to WWE. Do you agree? Given the option who would you like to return to beef up the WWE Championship picture? Comment below or drop me a tweet @Tybo_SLTD.
