TNA Impact Wrestling episode lends the first under Drew Galloway as champion. Galloway spoke and addresses the audience, but Jeff Hardy is his first championship opponent. That particular bout is set for March 29th at 9, on PopTV.
Impact is coming fresh off the heels of five new talents signed to the roster, including former WWE NXT alumni as well; known respectively as Thomas LaRuffa and Mikael Vierge. Other signee’s are Laura Dennis, and Jesse Gilmette who are married in real life; and competed as Pepper Parks and Cherry Bomb. Marshe Rockette is the last of the five signed to new contracts to TNA.
Despite the initial Drew Galloway introductions and speech, this was met by former champion Matt Hardy, EC3 and Mike Bennett for their respective rebuttals and led to a standoff; till Dixie Carter ordered her position of how to resolve the bickering and banter.
The BroMans of Robbie E and Jesse Godderz went against Beer Money’s Robert Roode and James Storm. The tandem of Beer Money with a DWI led to a victory. In a TNA Xplosion match, we will also see Eli Drake versus Robbie E in other action.
In other action, Eddie Edwards of the Wolves defeated Crazzy Steve in their No-DQ bout. Jade in Knockouts competition defeated Marti Belle and Rebel in a three-way dance to earn the number one contender’s spot.
Otherwise, lots of backstage promo’s and in-ring segments lead to future developments happening on the show, or in the coming weeks; although it is sad to see some of the top notables (based on how their booked) only seen on TV (even for this episode) just as a promo or a segment, and not actively getting in a match or getting over based on talent, ability and personality as opposed to just promo work.
The fourth match of the evening did lead to the main event after all the promos and was a drawn out, round-about way to get these guys in the mix. It contained EC3, Rockstar Spud, Bobby Lashley, Bennett, Bram, Eric Young, Tyrus and both Hardies in what came across as a hodgepodge to name a top contender. Rather than give a proper build or a series of classics and (future opponents for Galloway); TNA decided to make a big cauldron, a big melting pot of talent and throw them in a blender for this one match.
In closing, after all this maneuvering and promos led to Jeff Hardy’s victory and he will face Galloway for the title next week on Impact.
