#RawReport – 8th October 2018 (@Runner_rope)

Here are the main talking points from this week’s Raw which saw a few heel turns and a huge return, eight years in the making.

Michaels will return to the ring

After the events of Super Show Down, Triple H and Shawn Michaels had a few things to say to The Undertaker and Kane. Like how they have lost all respect they had for the Brothers of Destruction, and that Michaels is willing to come out of retirement to team up with his long-time friend, The Game, to take on The Deadman and The Big Red Machine in a tag match at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2nd. I’m sure all WWE fans cannot wait to see Michaels back in the ring and all eyes will be on Saudi Arabia in four weeks’ time.

Bellas go bad

In a rematch from Saturday in Australia, The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey once again defeated the Riott squad by Rousey tapping out Ruby Riott with her arm bar. However, in the post-match celebrations, Nikki and Brie started to attack Rousey and ragdoll her all around the ring. Rousey did her best to fight back, but The Bellas got their message across to Rousey and to the WWE Universe. People certainly saw this coming as it’s been heavily rumoured in recent weeks that Rousey will face Nikki Bella for the Raw women’s championship at WWE Evolution, and it’s surely just a matter of time before this match is announced for the Pay-Per-View by WWE.

Ambrose walks out on The Shield

In another rematch from Super Show Down, The Shield took on the Dogs of War in Raw’s main event. This was a very fast-paced match with cool spots and break-up teases in both camp. Drew McIntyre eventually picked up the win for his team with a Claymore kick to Dean Ambrose. After the match, Ambrose stormed out of the ring and to the back to the bemusement of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Week by week, WWE plant seeds for an Ambrose heel turn, and it’s great storytelling.

A double turn?

In what was maybe the most fascinating segment of Raw, Bobby Lashley squared off against Kevin Owens in a match we have seen plenty of times. However, what transpired in this match was a clever piece of booking from WWE. The Chicago crowd expectedly cheered for Owens and Booed Lashley, so Lashley and his hype man Lio Rush used heelish tactics to win the match and beat down Owens after the match. So, it seems that Lashley has fully turned heel, but it’s still uncertain as to whether Owens has turned baby face. I hope he has because we will get to see a new side to the Owens character, and his comedic timing is on point which will prove pivotal in being a good baby face.

Two matches become one

Many weeks ago, WWE announced Trish Stratus v Alexa Bliss for the WWE Evolution PPV. More recently they announced Mickie James v Lita for Evolution. This week on Raw however, Mickie James came up with the idea of herself and Bliss taking on Stratus and a partner of her choice at Evolution. Low and behold, Stratus picked her fellow Hall of famer Lita. I was hoping to see these singles matches but I can’t complain too much as this frees up the Pay-Per-View for more matches.
