#AEW: Double or Nothing Predictions. #AEWDON (@callumowen98 & @xterblack)

Hello, this Saturday night on ITV Box Office, AEW will present their first ever PPV, live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, called Double Or Nothing. The main event will see a rematch from WrestleKingdom 12 as Kenny Omega takes on Chris Jericho. Also on the card, we’ll see The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr and Fenix) Vs Young Bucks for the AAA Tag Team Championship, Cody Vs his brother Dustin Rhodes, a casino royale and a Women’s Triple Threat match.

The Wrestling Brain (Callum) and The Farrand Forecast (Adam) have gotten together to give their predictions for the above matches:

Britt Baker Vs Kylie Rae Vs Nyla Rose

Callum: I will be watching this match with fresh eyes, I’ve never watched any of these wrestlers compete. Britt Baker was the 1st announced signee to the Women’s division and it seems AEW has big plans for the qualified dentist, she’s attended press conferences and the TV launch. Both Kylie Rae and Nyla Rose were revealed as AEW talent at a press conference in Las Vegas, and over the last few weeks on AEW: Road To Double Or Nothing, Brandi Rhodes has implied she wants all of the women to win the triple threat.

Personally, I anticipate Baker to win, AEW is investing a lot in her, whether it be her going to the Turner Network launch, or promoting her as a wrestler as well as a qualified dentist. Winner – Britt Baker

Adam: I must admit, I don’t know much about the competitors in this match. So to avoid making an ill advised judgment, I’ll take Callum’s lead and pick Britt Baker.

Casino Battle Royale

Callum: On the pre-show we’ll see a 21 man battle royal where the winner will earn a AEW World Heavyweight Championship against either Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. In the battle royale we’ll see names like Shawn Spears aka Tye Dillinger, Joey Janela and MJF all compete. I think we’ll see Hangman Page win the match as the 21st entrant, he was supposed to face PAC at the event but the match was called due to ‘creative’ differences. Page will be one of the future stars of the AEW roster and him facing either Jericho or Omega at a later date makes the most sense. Winner – Hangman Page

Adam: There are a few X factors in this match that make this one the most difficult to call for me. The inclusion of Shawn Spears (Tye Dillinger) as one of, if not THE, most recognisable face in the match makes me think he’s a shoo-in but surely he’s more useful putting over younger talents in this one? The inclusion of the title match stipulation (vs. the winner of Omega/Jericho) makes me think that the mystery entrant is a possibility but I highly doubt that Jon Moxley would be used in this spot. More likely to be Hangman Page as Callum said.

Having said all that, my heart is heavier than my head in this situation so I’m going with a UK guy who I’ve had the absolute pleasure to meet on a few occasions who could do great things with a win here. Winner – Jimmy Havoc

Cody Vs Dustin Rhodes

Callum: This is the match I’m most interested in on this card, does Dustin Rhodes formerly known as Goldust still have a big PPV performance left in him. Both of the Rhodes brothers will be clashing in a match against each other on a big stage, which many WWE fans hoped we’d have seen a few years ago. Cody is looking to end the attitude era, believing this current crop of wrestling is better than 20 years ago when it was at it’s most popular.

There’s no way that I see Dustin winning, but I think this will be an entertaining bout where post match the Rhodes brothers hug it out and pay tribute to their dad ‘The American Dream Dusty Rhodes’ who I’m sure will be looking down on them smiling. Winner – Cody

Adam: This one is a very interesting inclusion and something that WWE should have pulled the trigger on. I’ve heard that this one is going to be Dustin’s final match and while going out on a win would put the proverbial cherry on top of his career, I think Cody has to win this one in a very similar vein to my thinking behind the Jericho/Omega match later in the show.

This is the opportunity for Cody to be positioned as one of the top guys in the company and I would bet that Dustin Rhodes is more than happy to give back to the industry by taking the loss here to achieve that.

The American Nightmare will be forever known as ‘The Man Who Retired His Own Brother’ Winner – Cody

Lucha Bros Vs Young Bucks – AAA Tag Team Championship Match

Callum: It’s no secret that I’m a Young Bucks fan, so this is another match I’m looking forward. Pentagon and Fenix have been tag team stalwarts in many promotions, and had many great matches in Impact over the last few months. A few weeks ago The Young Bucks surprised their opponents by showing up at an AAA show and winning the AAA Tag Team Championship. Both teams will be pushed as two of the best in the tag division, so predicting the winners of this match is difficult, however this is AEW’s first PPV and having The Bucks stand tall is best for business. Winners and still AAA Tag Team Champions – Young Bucks

Adam: I recently witnessed the Lucha Bros win Fight Club Pro’s Dream Tag Team Invitational in impressive fashion by scoring wins over LAX and Schadenfreude in the same night. The luchadors are a spectacle to watch, I fully anticipate this one to steal the show and given I’ve predicted Cody to beat Dustin, I think this win will go to Pentagon & Fenix as surely those that own the company can’t win it all? Can they? Winners – The Lucha Bros

Kenny Omega Vs Chris Jericho

Callum: I remember about 17 months, ordering NJPW World to watch Alpha Vs Omega, and I absolutely adored the match, Omega was probably my favourite NJPW wrestler, and Y2J is one of my favourites wrestlers ever, I just love how he can get several characters over, he is a wrestling chameleon. This makes perfect sense as the first main event of an AEW PPV, you have one of the biggest names in wrestling history in Jericho and one of the best wrestlers in the world right now in Omega, and for casual fans if they see Jericho in a different promotion, they’ll want to take a look.

I anticipate Omega to win again against Jericho, but after a fun 25-30 minute match. Then Kenny can cut his usual post match promo, and just as he says goodbye and goodnight, Jon Moxley makes his big debut, him and Omega have a stare down as the show goes off the air.

Adam: I can’t see Jericho winning this one. I think, for all that AEW stands for, this should be Kenny Omega’s biggest win in America which puts a stamp on the end of his time in Japan and signifies the movement of the company going forward. An established veteran like Jericho needs to (and should) take the loss to Omega in preparation for ‘The Cleaner’ to be touted as AEW’s top guy.
