As we are approaching Bound For Glory once again, and Impact Wrestling is hotter than ever, we have been asked to say something about the newest inductee into the Hall of Fame. None other than Abyss.
@ColinHebert614 (The Curtain Jerker)
From the beginning of Impact Wrestling, when it was the days of NWA-TNA starting back in 2002, one wrestler has been through everything with the company, “The Monster” Abyss. He has given everything to the company, and I do mean everything. He invented the hardcore style in Impact and gave up his body in several “Monster’s Ball” and “Barbed Wire Massacre” matches. He even had a small, well-deserved run with the NWA World title. Through all of Impact Wrestling’s troubles, Abyss has been loyal and stood by them the whole time. This is a well-deserved induction into Impact’s Hall of Fame.

Once it was announced that the Impact Hall of Fame was to return at Bound for Glory everyone, including I, began to speculate on who might be the fortunate one. If one were to consider the names already in the Hall, there are several others who might fit the bill. Just look at names such as Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarret, Team 3D, Earl Hebner and Gail Kim.
All of them excellent ambassadors for the brand and having cemented their legacies under the Impact banner. It would be natural to give the honour to faces of the company such as AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jerry Lynne or James Storm (even under the guise of America’s Most Wanted), but some of these names are tied up elsewhere or there is a rift between them and Impact. To me, there is only one name, Chris Parks or The Monster Abyss. Abyss was at the very first TNA event.
Then going by the name of Prince Justice, a name later parodied by the trio Prince Justice Brotherhood (Super Eric, Shark Boy & Curry Man), he was in the elimination match to crown the first ever NWA-TNA champion. Once he returned as Abyss he has been featured in many of the companies most high profile matches, capturing all the titles available, getting slammed through tables, thumbtacks and barbed wire. All of it for the good of the company. He even reinvented himself as his own brother, Joseph Park.
Today Abyss is a behind the scenes guy, helping out backstage. He has never left the company, even though he had the opportunity to go to WWE for a program with the Undertaker. To me, Abyss is Impact Wrestling, the only one who has stuck with it through thick and thin. He bleeds TNA/Impact, why that is, only Abyss can answer that question, but he is a well deserving inductee.

I can not agree more with Chris. After watching Impact Wrestling for almost a year and a half, I have always been a fan of the more bloody and hard-hitting aspect of wrestling. And in this division, Abyss has continuously been dominating and delivering quality content. He always strives to do everything for the fans.
Every match I have seen him in, he always gives a 100 %. Therefore he truly deserves it. Of course, there are several other wrestlers that have accomplished a lot over the past years such the ones mentioned above by Chris. However, from the few episodes of Impact Wrestling and real professional wrestling that I have seen, I could only see Abyss being the top guy.
@Tybo_SLTD (Tybo Talks)
I have watched TNA/Impact Wrestling for a long time, (all the way back to watching it on ‘The Wrestling Channel’ when that was a thing on SkyUK TV) Impact have gone through a lot of changes. Whether it’s the themes, names, the ring shape, roster or management there has been one constant since the doors opened in 2002, ‘The Monster’ Abyss.
Abyss has been through a fair few changes himself, but out of everyone who has previously been inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame, I think it’s fair to say Abyss is the most deserving. This isn’t me throwing shade on the likes of Kurt Angle and Sting but the simple fact is everyone else in the Hall of Fame was an established name in the wrestling business. Abyss has built a multi-layered gimmick over the last 17 years.
This is an even more impressive feat when you think how easily the ‘monster’ gimmick can go pear-shaped over time, and turn into a bit of a clown. For the bulk of his career Abyss has continued to reinvent and innovate his gimmick and matches he has been involved in. Aside from everything else, the amount of punishment he has put his body through for the sake of entertainment is nothing short of amazing.
Congratulations to Abyss, for the amazing, brutal, blood-soaked matches and for being the most loyal guy on the Impact roster #YouDeserveIt
