This Friday night from Las Vegas, Nevada, Ring of Honor will present “Death Before Dishonor” featuring 3 main event title matches, Cody will defend the ROH World Heavyweight Title, or Ring in his case, against Minoru Suzuki, who is making his first appearance in the United States in over 25 years. The on-a-roll KUSHIDA defends the ROH TV title versus Kenny King, and The Young Bucks will look to hang on to their ROH World Tag Team Titles against The Motor City Machine Guns.
“The Curtain Jerker” Colin Hebert, and “Wrestling World” Josh Morrell give their predictions on what will happen at Friday’s big pay-per-view event.
ROH World Title: “THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE” Cody (c) vs Minoru Suzuki
Josh Morrell: I would love for Suzuki to win as I have loved his work for NJPW in the last few months but Cody has been on fire recently with the ROH Title and challenging for the IWGP Heavyweight Title a few months ago, I’m going with a Cody win here, with a few Bullet Club members in tow.
Colin Hebert: Like Josh said, I’d love for Suzuki to come over to the U.S. and win the ROH Title. He’s great in every facet of the game. However, I’m not sure if I’m done with Cody’s reign yet. Cody is a great ambassador for ROH and a win over the scariest personality in wrestling will give him much credibility for any ROH shows heading to Japan. Cody wins, albeit with a little interference from Bullet Club.
ROH World Television Title: KUSHIDA (c) vs. Kenny King
Josh Morrell: I didn’t know much about either men except that Kenny was on WWF Tough Enough Season 2 and KUSHIDA was a part of NJPW but since the recent ROH War of The Worlds: UK tour, which I attended the London leg of the three events, KUSHIDA stood out the most along with TITAN, who he was facing. I’m going with a KUSHIDA win here as he is one of my favourites on the independents.
Colin Hebert: This is a tough one. Kenny King has been on a roll since returning from a stint on ABC’s “The Bachelorette” and that is something ROH has been talking about ALL THE TIME on their TV show. This is also Kenny King’s hometown. KUSHIDA has also been on a roll since May of this year, winning New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors, the ROH TV title and then winning the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title. I only pick KUSHIDA here because he is scheduled to be on ROH’s Global Wars tour and it makes sense for him to be here in the U.S. as ROH TV Champion.
ROH World Tag Team Championships: The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) (c) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
Josh Morrell: I have made it vocal on my social media accounts, I am not a fan of the Young Bucks move-set but I can see that they are somewhat decent characters on their Being The Elite YouTube show, I have known of MCMG since the early days of TNA/IMPACT WRESTLING/GFW IMPACT, so if I was booking, I would go with the MCMG but it is going to be the Young Bucks continuing there reign of terror of ROH, PWG and NJPW.
Colin Hebert: This is simple for me. The Young Bucks are the highest paid performers in the history of ROH. They also recently lost the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles. The only way The Bucks lose the ROH tag titles is if one of them gets hurt. The Young Bucks here.
