Dear SLTD,
It’s not often that I write quick notes, in fact, it hardly ever happens, but you’ll be happy to know that today is one of those days! I know, shocking huh?
Basically, over the last few months, TNA (more than WWE) have reminded me what it’s like to enjoy watching wrestling. Whenever I tune in, I don’t want to miss what could happen next week. It’s called unpredictability. It’s what made the WWE what it was back when I first started watching.
Lately, Vinnie Mac and the crew over at Titan Towers have become SO predictable that you’ve got a fair idea about what’s going to happen throughout the show before you even watch it. TNA used to be like that, but it isn’t anymore.
I don’t know what it’s down to, but whatever it is, they should keep doing it. There have been some teething problems, like the issues with Spike & Direct TV in the States and the complete clusterf**k of a storyline involving AJ and Crack-Whore Claire, but other than that, it’s been pretty good to watch.
Probably the biggest reason why TNA is successful and has such a good relationship with their fans is because they don’t treat their fanbase like they’re idiots. WWE patronises their “Universe” by calling us a “Universe”. We’re not, we’re fans! TNA listened to their fans earlier in the summer when Austin Aries (The Greatest Man Who Ever Stole Greg’s Cape) was crowned World Heavyweight Champion.
The fans wanted it and although the TNA officials might not have been sold on it, they went with it and now A-Double is still our reigning World Champion. They’re generally getting more right than wrong at the moment and I can’t wait for Bound for Glory on Sunday, but I’m worried. Does this mean I’m becoming a TNA mark?
Yours,
The Scottish Nightmare, George
