Hello its me TWB, and I’m here to bring you my predictions for tonight’s Extreme Rules PPV. Now I won’t be giving a rundown of all 10 matches, for the undercard I’ll simply give you my outcomes, then for the main event matches I’ll give you my thoughts on the feuds and how I see those matches ending.
Undercard Matches
Drew Gulak (C) Vs Tony Nese – Cruiserweight Championship match.
Winner (and still champion) – Drew Gulak
The Usos Vs The Revival (C) – WWE Raw Tag Team Championship match.
Winners (and still champions) – The Revival
Aleister Black Vs Cesaro
Winner – Aleister Black
Daniel Bryan and Rowan (C) Vs Heavy Machinery Vs New Day – WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship match.
Winners (and still champions) – Daniel Bryan and Rowan
Bayley (C) Vs Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross – Smackdown Women’s Championship match.
Winner (and still champion) – Bayley
Main Card
Braun Strowman Vs Bobby Lashley – Last Man Standing match
I had absolutely no interest in seeing these two wrestle each other, especially after their match in Saudi Arabia, and their “Tug of war” contest. That was until two weeks ago on Raw, where they faced off in a Falls Count Anywhere contest, and Braun Strowman speared himself and Lashley, through the LED wall. It was a moment that got everybody talking and seemingly caring about a Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman match.
I could see another massive spot happening tonight, now I’m not sure what it’ll be but I’m convinced it’ll be something that lives up to the Extreme Rules PPV moniker. As for the winner and with the talk of a renewed push I expect Braun Strowman to be the Last Man Standing.
Winner – Braun Strowman
Ricochet (C) Vs AJ Styles – WWE United States Championship match
I’m really looking forward to this one, both Ricochet and Styles are two of the best in-ring wrestlers at the moment in WWE. The newly turned Styles has momentum after reforming The Club along with Anderson and Gallows, and a run with the championship might bring back some relevance and importance to a title which has been in doldrums for a while now.
However Ricochet has only held the title for a few weeks, and hot potatoing the strap also doesn’t do it any help. I could see a DQ finish here, which allows this rivalry to continue but also keeps both Styles and Ricochet looking strong.
Winner (and still champion) – Ricochet (by DQ finish)
Kofi Kingston (C) Vs Samoa Joe – WWE Championship match
So I’m going to get this out here straight away, I don’t care about Samoa Joe anymore, I think he’s a great promo guy and solid wrestler, but why does he deserve a WWE Title shot, he loses all the time.
He dropped the US Championship last month, and now he’s a contender for the WWE Title. Over the last few years he’s lost every big match and every feud on the main roster, AJ Styles beat him throughout the majority of the summer and autumn in 2018, Brock Lesnar squashed him at Great Balls Of Fire back in 2017.
Meanwhile I’ve enjoyed Kofi’s run as champion, mainly because he’s been booked completely opposite to Joe, where he has been on a winning streak since the start of his main event push. This feud has seen Kofi give Joe a middle finger in an act of defiance, and Joe make Kofi pass out following a Coquina Clutch.
This result is easy for me to predict, as Joe never wins the big matches and I can see that trend continuing tonight.
Winner (and still champion) – Kofi Kingston
Roman Reigns and Undertaker Vs Drew McIntyre and ‘The Best In The Wooooorrrrrlllld’ Shane McMahon – No Holds Barred Tag Team match
I may be in the minority here, but I don’t mind this Shane McMahon character, sure he shouldn’t be on both Raw and Smackdown in a high profile position, but WWE need heels, and currently he is one of the main heels.
Drew McIntyre has been stuck in a little bit of limbo for a while now, and unfortunately he feels like the 4th most important wrestler in this match. The pairing of Reigns and Undertaker should be a very interesting one, considering their history with each other. I hope Taker has a better match tonight compared to his one against Goldberg at the previous Saudi Arabia show.
With the recent Kevin Owens face turn and the stipulation of this match, I think it’s a given he gets involved at some point. Perhaps in a scene reminiscent of a previous Shane/KO feud, Shane could have Taker laid out on the announcers table going for an elbow drop from the top of a ladder, Owens appears in the nick of time and pulls Taker away.
Shane can lay motionless on the outside with KO standing over the top of him, whilst in the ring Roman and Taker can put Drew away.
Winners – Roman Reigns and Undertaker
Seth Rollins (C) and Becky Lynch (C) Vs Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans – Mixed Tag Team Extreme Rules match (both Universal and Raw Women’s Championship titles are on the line)
Both Seth and Becky have been getting a bit of backlash and negativity during this feud, because their cool factor and popularity isn’t the same since WWE began to use their relationship in storylines.
Personally I’m still a fan of both of them, but I wish they could just be allowed to have their relationship be off the camera, remember it’s Colby Lopez and Rebecca Quinn who are dating not the characters we see on our TV screens each week.
I don’t mind Baron Corbin, but I think he’s had his time in the main event picture, and it’s not been a massive success, again much like Shane McMahon he gets heel heat, but it maybe the X-Pac heat. As for Lacey Evans I wasn’t a fan of hers in NXT and I’m still not entirely convinced by her on the main roster, in fact whilst I think about it, the women’s division has significantly gone downhill since the main event of Wrestlemania, and the sooner Ronda Rousey is back the better.
This feud has to end tonight and has to end with the babyfaces standing tall, but then they must both go their separate ways on TV and focus on their singles career, as if WWE continue to book them as a couple it’s only going to hurt them both long-term.
Winners (and still champions) – Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins
