I have deduced over the last few weeks that WWE really have lost the plot, okay I knew that already but especially since the Royal Rumble WWE really don’t listen to their audience. If you’ve watched WWE over the last 6 months you’ll realise that Dean Ambrose is the most over man on the roster, it may be Raw, Smackdown or PPV but Ambrose receives the biggest cheers. He is someone the audience are happy to get behind, and more importantly the WWE universe likes him. At the Royal Rumble Dean Ambrose’s potential was there for all to see, and his potential is huge, his face-off with Triple H in the closing moments of the Rumble was riveting stuff. Following the Rumble WWE announced the main event for Fastlane this Sunday, and that is a Triple Threat No1 Contenders Match for the World Heavyweight Title.
Once more at the Royal Rumble WWE subconsciously made a true a superstar, Dean Ambrose went over strong in an incredible Last Man Standing match against Dean Ambrose. A few hours later in the Rumble match itself Dean had a very strong showing, so much so the entire WWE universe rallied behind him and cheered him on. In the dying moments of the Royal Rumble Dean and Triple H went one on one to become the WWE champion, as we all know Triple H prevailed, this result was expected by many. The crowning of Triple H as the WWE Champion fits in with WWE’s ongoing push of Roman Reigns, a project that has been 2 years in the making. Therefore it’s expected that at Fastlane Roman will succeed in the triple threat match and go on to defeat HHH at Wrestlemania 32.
Brock Lesnar is the third participant in the triple threat match this evening, the Beast himself stands in the way of both Dean and Roman. Brock’s inclusion in this match has made the ‘Road to Wrestlemania‘ ever so more intriguing, it’s not that it directly affects the main event at Wrestlemania but it has changed the dynamics of the Fastlane PPV. With Brock’s involvement announced it automatically kicked started one of WWE’s most anticipated feuds in recent years, and that it between Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar. Dean was on fire following the Rumble, but once WWE had him butt-heads with Lesnar his popularity sky rocketed. Their recent interactions have included the infamous contract signing a few weeks ago on Raw and Dean also goading Lesnar into a fight on the same night. Their confrontations have led many to call for a Wrestlemania match between the two on April 3, would it work? Yes, Are WWE going to go that way? I’m not sure yet.
What complicates matters in what WWE did before and at the Rumble. In the weeks before the Rumble WWE had the Wyatt Family target and attack Brock Lesnar, in the Rumble match Bray eliminated Brock, leading many to assume the two would face off at Wrestlemania. That may still be the case, however with the Dean/Brock hostilities heating up and becoming must see surely that will take centre stage? Now I would love to see WWE script a full on Dean vs Brock feud for Wrestlemania but with Dean being on fire why rush? And I’ll tell you why. At the Royal Rumble the audience hostility towards Roman Reigns returned, however typical WWE pushed through and with the script thus forcing the audience to choose Dean as their guy. As we’ve neared Fastlane the animosity between Dean and Roman has slowly intensified, to the point where Roman has inflicted a Samoan Drop on Dean on this week’s Smackdown.
With Fastlane looming and Wrestlemania just around the corner the chess pieces will soon be in place, but should WWE go ahead with the script no matter the hostility towards certain members of the roster. My fears grow the closer we get to Wrestlemania, my fears grow due to the fact that WWE just do not listen to their audience. If Roman Reigns walk into the AT&T stadium to face Triple H one on one noise will be deafening……in a detrimental way, if WWE allow Reigns to walk in alone the crowd will kill him, Triple H will be the face. With Dean currently the top babyface in the company there is no other option than to have him win at Fastlane and become the No1 Contender, this could then set in motion a series of events that will only benefit Dean, Roman and WWE. If Dean is allowed the victory at Fastlane it could sow the seed for the long awaited and much needed Roman Reigns heel turn, following a Dean victory Roman could become enraged that he has lost out on the title and his Wrestlemania moment. Then to try and recapture the lost moment he could challenge the returning Undertaker for a match at Mania, Roman is of the right calibre to challenge the Deadman, on top of that the fans would love to see Reigns get his comeuppance at the hands of the Undertaker. Dean in turn could then challenge and defeat the Game and head into a ready made feud with Roman following Wrestlemania. With events the way they are I see it is a simple booking idea and one that makes perfect sense.
In the Summer of 2013 WWE stumbled upon their next main eventer in Daniel Bryan, they subsequently tried to bury him for the rest of the year. If it wasn’t for the WWE universe then the events of Wrestlemania 30 may never had happened. WWE in 2014 listened eventually, now in 2016 I hope WWE see the writing on the all and do what’s #BestForBusiness.
