The Fox Files- why now was the right time to bring Goldberg back

Welcome back to another edition of “The Fox Files” today, we are going to be talking about Goldberg, and why now was the perfect time to bring him back into the WWE.

Now before we start, I want to say I know Goldberg returned before Survivor Series so he has been in WWE for some time now, but I thought I’d still write this article anyway.

In case you guys don’t know- Goldberg returned on 17th October edition of Monday Night RAW to send a message to Brock Lesnar, which was laying down a challenge for Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Brock Lesnar accepted, in which Goldberg absolutely whooped Brock Lesnar’s ass in 1 minute and 26 seconds with 2 absolutely devestating spears, and a Jackhammer! Many people, including myself were shocked in how quick Brock Lesnar was defeated in this match, and when it happened, I wasn’t too happy. Looking back now though, it was actually perfect and I quite enjoyed it. Brock Lesnar for many years has been conquering the entire roster and he’s finally seen his match, plus, you can’t get much worse then WrestleMania 20… looking back now though, this was the correct decision. Yes, I know but here me out:

Look at what it does for storyline building. It means that someone has finally conquered the conquerer and it is obvious that Brock Lesnar would want his revenge on Goldberg in another big money match… At the end of the day, WWE is a business and is trying to make all the money they can, both Goldberg and Brock Lesnar are HUGE money attractions and putting them in a match with each other not only lets the current-day fans know who Goldberg is, but also brings back some of the fans that used to watch it because these 2 men are box-office attractions that everyone would want to watch.

Moving on, and Brock Lesnar wanted his revenge, with both of them finally announcing they would be in the Royal Rumble match. In the build up to the Royal Rumble PPV, they went back and forth with promos, they both showed up in the same ring on the same show(alongside my all-time favourite The Undertaker) and it actually was a fantastic build up for these 2 heading into the Royal rumble. Now, Goldberg eliminated Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble, meaning Goldberg got the upper advantage again. But again, perfect storyline telling.

Let’s look now towards the future- Goldberg is going up against Kevin Owens at FastLane. I’m actually looking forward to this match because it’s unpredictable. We know that Goldberg will be versing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, and we know Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens will battle on the Show of Shows, but the question is, which match would be for the Universal Championship?

Now, you could look at it both ways. You could go with Goldberg, and say that he would add value to the championship and it upps the stakes to his match with Brock Lesnar at the Showcase of the Immortals, but do you really want a part-timer with the title? I personally don’t mind it if they show up every 2 weeks, they don’t even have to defend it at the PPV, but Brock Lesnar is going to end up winning their matchup at WrestleMania, and look how his reign with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship turned out last time… You could say Kevin Owens could retain though, and have a double championship match at WrestleMania, which is personally what I’m hoping for.

Goldberg I repeat, is a HUGE attraction and whenever Goldberg is announced for a show, people want to tune in. I know because I tune into RAW if he’s on the show. I hope you enjoyed this Fox Files, and they’ll be more next week when we talk about potential superstars that could get called up, or get transferred to the other show in the next draft!
