Tuesday night, February 9th 2016 presented another episode of Impact Wrestling. It featured heavyweight champion Matt Hardy opening up the show, and clamoring for people to be “fired” on his new-found power trip. This show is a great “wrestling show” but consistently has matches, and “just” wrestlers wrestling. No real stories are made to make people watch, or something beyond the in-ring product.
Lashley defeated Bram in singles competition in their match, the first of the televised airing. The segments brought to discuss Reby having a issue or claim, complaining to Dixie Carter. For those who do not know, Awesome Kong, formerly Kharma in WWE was fired/released from TNA due to a backstage altercation with Reby. Reby is also the wife of Matt Hardy. How this doesn’t scream the dynamic of King Booker and Queen Sharmell power trip (minus the royalty) is perhaps obvious and a carbon copy.
In other developments, James Storm tells Roode he will cash in his feast or fired briefcase. Shane “Hurricane” Helms continues his involvement in helping Trevor Lee once again defeat Tigre Uno. Beer Money in their tag team bout defeats the team of The Decay (who is Abyss and Crazzy Steve).
Grado storms in unannounced and demands to reverse the decision from his being fired last week (from the briefcase choosing). This attempt is unsuccessful as security brings him back and ejects him. Jade in Knockouts competition defeated Madison Rayne, who was attacked post-match loss, until Gail Kim makes the save.
In the main event, Drew Galloway defeats Kurt Angle in their ongoing rivalry. Ironically enough, Drew makes Angle tap out with a Cross-face.
The last segment and to end the show featured the returning claims of Hardy to fire Carter, as in EC3. Instead, this was met with rebuttal from Rockstar Spud and defends Carters (both) honor. This leads to a dead-air altercation with Spud fighting Tyrus with security scrambling to break it up.
