IPW: UK Live Event – September 15th, Swanley, Kent.
The IPW Champions Sha Samuels (and Robbie T lookalike bodyguard) came out to let the crowd know that he was no longer the Undisputed IPW:UK British Champion – but he was un-unifying the two belts to become a current double-title holder, as both the IPW:UK All-England Champion and the IPW:UK World Champion! He also declared that, as Leroy Kincaide is not attending tonight’s event (due to recurring injury), he will not be wrestling and is off home. He is interrupted by Terry Frazier who challenges him to a title fight this evening.
London Riots vs Bhangra Knights
London Riots made their debut against the fan favourites ‘The Bollywood Dream’. Bhangra Knights hit some high flying moves and work well together, highlighted by a double team move of a hurricanrana and senton bomb combination. London Riots are big brawlers, and were very aggressive during this match, and got a lot of heat from gaining the win by hitting a low blow before hitting their finisher for the win over the very popular faces.
Winner: London Riots
Iestyn Rees Challenge
Irresistible Iestyn Rees (who reminds me of a Welsh Wade Barratt) came out and issued his ‘Skinny Boy’ wrestler challenge. The Super Relic and Joel Martinegro answered the challenge, and were destroyed by impressive powerbombs. Rees called out for more, but soon left the ring when local favourite Joel Masters came down and took up his challenge. Rees quickly declined the offer to take on someone his own size.
Cruiserweight Fatal 4 Way Match: ‘The Star Attraction’ Mark Haskins vs ‘Mr IPW’ Ashley Reed vs Will Osprey vs Paul Robinson
This was an absolutely epic match, with action in and out of the ring. Mark Haskins, fresh back from his stint in TNA, was looking in great shape, and as usual, Ashley Reed was escorted to the ring by Donna. So much fast paced action in this match, the end coming when Osprey missed his 630 on Reed, while Paul Robinson hit a shooting star press on Mark Haskins, resulting in Reed rolling up Osprey and Robinson both winning by pinfall.
Winner: Joint Winners – Ashley Reed and Paul Robinson.
This resulted in Robinson challenging Reed to a match at the 8th anniversary IPW: UK event.
Mad Man Manson vs The Mexican Eagle
An absolute gem of a comedy match. Manson having drawn on boots and entering the ring in a straitjacket, calling for a loud bell and when it rings shouting FIRE ALARM, taking the Mexican Eagle for a dance, sitting on audience members, a nip grip circle involving the referee, crotching the Eagle in the corner. Sadly The Mexican Eagle won, although I can’t remember how. Mostly because I was laughing so hard.
Winner: Mexican Eagle
‘Earl’ Jonathan Windsor vs The Rage
I’ll be honest, after nearly crying with laughter at Mad Man Manson, who is quickly being established as my favourite British wrestler, this match was a bit of a comedown. Although the crowd calling Earl Windsor ‘Barbara’ was highly amusing. The Rage won this after Earl Windsor missed a top rope elbow and Rage hit a moonsault
Winner: The Rage
Main Event: Sha Samuels vs Terry Frazier
This match started out of the ring, with Frazier getting the upper hand, throwing Samuels into the wall on a number of occasions. Samuels however soon gained the offence, suplexing Frazier onto the floor and raking the eyes of his former Kartel tag team member. Samuels Head of Security also kept on trying to interfere, and the referee ordered him out of to the back. In the middle of the hard fought match, the referee was knocked out, and another ref had to be called in. Frazier hit a Rock Bottom for the pin, Samuel’s foot was on the ropes, but the referee did not see it. However the original referee did, and after an argument between the officials, the match was restarted. It didn’t last much longer, as Samuels slammed Frazier into the turnbuckle and took the win
Winner: Sha Samuels
For my first IPW: UK event, I really enjoyed the performers and the storylines. I will be attending the next IPW: UK event will be the 8th Anniversary event on 17th November in Sevenoaks.
