It’s Time To Stop Mocking Jason Jordan

Okay guys, I’m not one to tell people how to be, but I think it’s time that we all stop mocking Jason Jordan.

I admit it, up until this past Monday, I was not a big believer in Jordan, hell nobody was. Maybe a lot of you still aren’t and that’s understandable. But the work that he has been putting in, in addition to the fact that WWE Creative has put him in one of the worst spots I’ve ever seen Creative put anybody into has made me think twice about him. He’s held his own against the likes of John Cena and Roman Reigns and to me has actually overcome all the horrible decisions made by WWE Creative to bury his career to earn my respect.

It’s clear when you look at him that he could have star written all over him. His background shows that he has the goods to be something. WWE loves to have guys with backgrounds in amateur wrestling, see Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles. I saw Jordan while he was a collegiate wrestler at the University of Indiana, while he was going 35-0 during the regular season and ended the season ranked 2nd in the country while wrestling the toughest schedule in college wrestling.

Jordan decided to enter professional wrestling and after 3 tough years of developmental having nothing for him, moved into a tag team with Chad Gable, another former amateur wrestler, Gable was a 2012 Olympian. The team was promoted as “blue-chip” prospects, meaning they were can’t miss prospects. They tore through NXT and were even being compared to all-time greats like The Steiner Brothers before they were even NXT tag team champs. They ended up defeating The Revival for the titles at WrestleMania weekend in Dallas in 2016, but only for a short reign of 2 months. They are “can’t miss” prospects, WWE needed them on the main roster, so they got called up in July of 2016.

The thought was American Alpha would tear through SmackDown Live!’s tag team division and be dominant tag team champs. But as soon as they debuted on the main roster, it was all downhill for the duo. They didn’t even win the tournament to crown SmackDown Live!’s inaugural tag team champions, not even connecting with the crowd. They were able to win the titles in December of 2016, but their 2-month reign seemingly was only to get the belts back on The Uso’s. After that, they didn’t even team together on TV. And then it happened.

With the team on the verge of a split (an official split never actually occurred), WWE Creative made the decision that Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son should be…Jason Jordan. I don’t know who it was in Creative that thought the WWE Universe would accept their hero having a son out of wedlock and then having the son bear nothing of a resemblance of Angle, but they truly thought that would happen. Boy then they must have been shocked when they finally had a guy who got more boos than Roman Reigns.

The problem hasn’t been with Jason Jordan. I truly believe he is one of the best in-ring performers in all of WWE. But Creative put the young man in a position he wasn’t prepared for or ready for. Along the way WWE may have found their biggest heel in years just by sheer stupidity. It’ll be interesting to see if they believe in Jordan as a heel (which I can see signs of in his character right now and am loving) and have a character that could reach the top of WWE or continue to let him flounder as a babyface, hearing fans cheer as he once again gets beatdown by Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns
