Hey UK fans, Raw has come around fast and tonight we get another edition of WWE’s finest flagship TV show, so what is there to expect? After last week’s non-stop show-stealing brawl from the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, what else does WWE have in the pipeline for SummerSlam?
The WWE Title: Seth Rollins escaped from Battleground with the title wrapped firmly around his waist, but with no future storyline set up. However, last week on Raw, John Cena confronted our WWE champion and has questioned his questionable title reign and his inability to fight on his own.
Personally I don’t think Cena has been away long enough from WWE title scene to warrant another shot at the belt just yet, plus he is making a great impact in the mid-card right now and I don’t see why WWE would end that just. This would have been a perfect opportunity for Dolph Ziggler to get involved and challenge Rollins in a semi main event scene but that isn’t going happen right now………..Seth it seems is left dangling right now.
The US Title/Mid-card/IC Title: With so much talent in the mid-card right now there are a number of opponents John Cena could tackle with at Summerslam, but as mentioned above Cena may be headed elsewhere. Therefore I’d like to see a match between, Rusev/Owens, and better yet allow Cesaro to have his shot at Cena on PPV without interference, even a triple thereat or fatal-4-way could work.
Ryback’s reign has been halted with an injury so the chance of him fighting at Summerslam is slim, however I feel WWE should take a page out of UFC’s book and create and interim belt for the event to keep interest high, so on Raw I’d like to see someone such as Neville, Barrett or even Owens get involved with the IC title to stop it falling into mediocrity. Raw is the perfect place for such a plan to take shape. I’m sure like the majority of fans we don’t really want to see the Big Show and Miz fighting over the IC title again anytime soon.
Roman Reigns/Bray Wyatt: They both contested a great match at Battleground which with the help of the returning Luke Harper Bray emerged victorious. On Raw last week Dean Ambrose became embroiled in the feud, this idea I like as it keeps Ambrose busy on screen and in a relatively high place on the card.
All four men mentioned above are good to great workers and can put on a high calibre performance when given enough time. I’m guessing after Raw last week that this will turn into a tag match come Summerslam which I think adds a twist on the normal one on one feud and offers different paths to go down come August 24th.
The Divas: Since the debut of the NXT girls the female division in WWE has improved tenfold, let’s hope we see the in-ring singles debut of Becky Lynch soon and the hopeful demise of the Bella Twins at Summerslam.
