After a decent B-level pay per view in which I predicted five matches correctly, many situations stand out. There were some parts I liked and others I disliked. Let’s break them down:
My Likes
Eve’s Inclusion and Win in the Divas Match
I had predicted that Eve would get involved in the Layla-Kaitlyn match, so it did not surprise me that WWE got rid of Kaitlyn altogether. We saw a great set up for a future feud between Eve and Kaitlyn, as it seems pretty obvious that it was Eve who injured Kaitlyn. For now, WWE got the belt off boring Layla and put it on one of the best females on WWE TV today. Eve continues to improve her character and as I wrote a few weeks ago, she deserved the title.
Team Friendship – Daniel Bryan and Kane
From the moment Daniel Bryan and Kane began the anger management segments, I was tweeting and promoting the idea for these two to be tag team champions. I have read countless articles and everyone says the same thing – Daniel Bryan and Kane are the most entertaining characters on WWE TV right now. They are hilarious, have great chemistry and are both former World Champions. This is exactly what the tag team division needed. Perhaps a feud with Punk/Lesnar or another pair of former World Champions can be in the future. Until then….Disneyland?
JBL Joins Cole At Commentary
Regardless of Jerry Lawler being unable to work right now (I, along with the entire WWE Universe are so happy to hear of his continuing recovery), I believed the WWE needs more color commentator. I wrote about potential color commentators that most may not have considered recently. However, JBL was someone who many were talking about it. There were reports that WWE was talking with JBL about returning to Smackdown to replace Booker T after Booker became GM. With that said, I was happy to see a true color commentator filling in for Lawler and not Josh Matthews. JBL may have thought he was rusty, but I thoroughly enjoyed his work and believed he had a number of great moments at commentary. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing him return to commentary again.
My Dislikes
Orton Wins, Ziggler Loses
This was one of the matches I predicted incorrectly. I will agree with those who have been saying this was one of the best matches of the night. Ziggler and Orton are two of the best wreslters on the roster so I wouldn’t expect a bad match from either one. However, I am not sure what the win does for Orton. Is he going to enter the World Heavyweight Championship picture now? If so, then I am okay with it. Otherwise, it hurts Ziggler more than it helps Orton. Ziggler needed this win more to look strong as a future WHC.
Sheamus and Del Rio
I feel as though I have said the same thing for months – what was the point of this match? The Brogue Kick was reinstated, Sheamus looked strong and Del Rio looked weak. Nothing about this match hasn’t happened already. Hopefully, we see a new number one contender for Sheamus’ title soon. As boring as Del Rio is as the number one contender, Sheamus is just as boring as the champion. He never loses and rarely looks weak. Please tell me this was the end of the feud. Please!
The Main Event Draw
Finally, the finish to last night’s event was a draw between John Cena and CM Punk. Don’t get me wrong – I thought it was a great match. I was not sure who was going to win this one, though I felt Punk was going to hold onto the title to keep the feud going. With that said, having both superstars pin each other was lame and the result was already used this year with Punk and Bryan. Did the writers run out of ideas? Why didn’t Paul Heyman interfere? I would’ve felt better if Big Show interfered or if the result ended in a disqualification. This was a great match with a not so great finish.
