Hello again,it’s The Wrestling Brain, back with my regular Monday slot, hope everyone had a nice weekend. This week I’m going to discuss something that could happen next week and that is will/should Nikki Bella overtake AJ Lee’s title reign of 295 days next week on Raw. In the article I will say why the reign shouldn’t be broken, but also why the reign should be broken.
I think we can all mostly agree that Nikki Bella’s title reign as Divas Champion has gone on way too long, since capturing the Divas Title from AJ Lee at last year’s Hell In a Cell she has defended the title 7 times,and hasn’t defended her title on TV or the WWE Network, since the July 4, that is now over two months. Would you say that Nikki Bella doesn’t deserve to beat AJ Lee’s record considering she’s only defended it 7 times since claiming the title. Well…
AJ Lee only also defended her title 7 times (not including the Divas Battle Royal at Wrestle Mania 30) therefore both her and Nikki have defended the titles the same amount of time, for almost the same amount of days. So before people go on the rant about Nikki Bella’s reign being boring, rubbish and that she hasn’t defended enough times, like I have in all honestly look at previous Divas Title reigns and how many times they’ve defended their titles.
This is more of an opinion than a judgement, but I predict if you were given an option on which Diva you prefer as a wrestler between Nikki Bella and AJ Lee, many of you would pick AJ Lee, now is a main reason why many people have disliked the reign of Nikki Bella, is simply because nobody likes Nikki Bella, whereas most people liked AJ throughout her title reign. Remember we all like Dean Ambrose but he defended the U.S. Title once in 10 months.
Anyway a reason why I think Nikki will overtake AJ Lee’s title reign is simply because AJ is no longer in WWE, so perhaps WWE want someone who is a current Diva to overtake AJ Lee’s reign, also anytime AJ Lee’s name is brought up CM Punk is mentioned, which of course WWE don’t want.
I’ll be honest, I don’t like Nikki Bella,but I don’t hate Nikki Bella,of course I would prefer someone like Paige, Sasha, Becky, Charlotte or Bayley to be Divas Champion, but I would be satisfied if Nikki did break the record, as in all honesty she has improved massively in the ring over the last year. However why would Nikki introduce a countdown to her being the longest reigning Divas Champion unless she wasn’t going to be longest Divas Champion, so next week on Raw as part of her longest title reigning ceremony, Stephanie McMahon announces that Nikki must defend her title tonight on Raw against Charlotte and of course for the sake of it Nikki would lose her title and not break the record.
So in about what, 2 months since the Divas Revolution began, we’ve seen various tag matches and occasional singles match, with the three teams swapping wins. Now I fondly remember Stephanie McMahon saying that she is giving the Divas an opportunity, now someone has to take it, so in conclusion next week on Raw that someone will take it, take away the Divas Title, take away Nikki Bella’s chance at breaking AJ Lee’s record, and that someone will be Charlotte.
