NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 3 Predictions

Happy 2 year anniversary to the NXT Takeover predictions articles, a lot of changes have taken place in both NXT and also in my life, two years ago I was still technically a student, but I’m writing this now as an unemployed guy who watches and writes about wrestling, and much like NXT it’s been evolution, over two years there’s been stumbling blocks, but hopefully we’re back at our best. Speaking of back at their best, let’s move onto our first match

Johnny Gargano vs Andrade “Cien” Almas

This feels like a very predictable match, to be perfectly honest, Andrade “Cien” Almas has been a flop, and it’s a great shame, I remember him debuting and he brought in with a great hype and since his debut his stock has dropped massively. As for his opponent Johnny Gargano, his stock is on the rise, for the first time in NXT, he is on his own, after his former partner Tommaso Ciampa turned on him at NXT Takeover: Chicago. I expect Gargano to win this match, and potentially move into the NXT Title picture, or even be moved up to the main roster.

Winner – Johnny Gargano

Aleister Black vs Hideo Itami

This will probably be the best match of the night between these two hard hitting wrestlers. To begin with I wasn’t a huge Aleister Black fan, but he’s grown on me after his recent matches with Kyle O’Reily and Bobby Fish. Hideo Itami’s career in NXT, to put it bluntly, has been a rollercoaster and I’m really happy for him that’s he’s managed to stay injury free for the last 5 months. His recent heel run was needed, however there has been talk of Hideo leaving WWE at the end of the year to return to NJPW, therefore I expect Black to win, in a hard hitting, brutal and vicious match.

Winner – Aleister Black

Authors of Pain vs SAnitY (NXT Tag Team Championship match)

This is a weird combination, correct me if I’m wrong, but which team are supposed to be the faces here, this match will certainly be more different to previous NXT tag team title matches instead of high flying moves, we’ll see a slower paced, battle of strength match between the two teams. The NXT tag division is going through a transitional period with TM61 still on the side-lines, #DIY are no more and The Revival are on the main roster. For over a year now Authors of Pain have been undefeated and I expect this run to continue as they’ll defeat the team of Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe. As for the future of the tag division, I presume former ROH Tag Team ReDragon aka Kyle O’Reily and Bobby Fish to begin working together to try and take down The Authors Of Pain.

Winners and still NXT Tag Team Champions – The Authors Of Pain

Asuka vs Ember Moon (NXT Women’s Championship match)

I have a reason for both Asuka and her opponent Ember Moon as to why they should win this Saturday. In Asuka’s case, she has been the best and the most dominant female wrestler in NXT history, her title reign has lasted a staggering 16 months and her undefeated streak has lasted almost two years, but every good thing must come to end. Ember Moon is marking her one year anniversary in NXT as she looks to become the first female to defeat Asuka in WWE. She failed at Takeover: Orlando and if she were to defeat Asuka it would be a legitimate surprise and one that would make sense as Asuka should be on the main roster by now. However, if Asuka were to lose on Saturday and make the jump to either Raw or Smackdown, the NXT women’s division will be obsolete. Therefore, I think the wise decision is for Asuka to retain yet again, but at some point, I think she’ll fall victim to a fellow Japanese star Kairi Sane. But don’t be surprised if WWE swerve us and give the title to Ember to create a shock factor

Winner and still NXT Women’s Champion – Asuka

Bobby Roode vs Drew McIntyre (NXT Championship match)

Who will be victorious as The Glorious One Bobby Roode defends his title against Drew McIntyre, the answer is…. neither of them. Over the last few weeks we’ve seen Roderick Strong try to get his hands on Bobby Roode, after Roode defeated him and embarrassed him in front of his family a few weeks ago. I’m anticipating a non-finish as Roderick Strong and Adam Cole will interfere and attack both Roode and McIntyre to close the show, the final scenes will be Strong and Cole decimating both Roode and McIntyre and the NXT officials, even William Regal. This is a wild, wacky and let’s face outlandish idea, but does every Takeover need to finish clean? Does every Takeover need to end with a simple 1,2,3? I don’t think so, this Takeover needs to end with Roderick Strong and Adam Cole literally taking over NXT.

Winner and still NXT Champion (via a non-finish) – Bobby Roode
