NXT Takeover: Philidelphia – Predictions

Hello, I’m the Wrestling Brain and let’s get down to business and begin my NXT Takeover Predictions. With all the build-up and hype for Raw 25 and the Royal Rumble, I feel tonight’s Takeover has been almost forgotten about, however never fear, after tonight I’m pretty sure once again we’ll be saying good luck main roster.

Kassius Ohno vs Velveteen Dream

Triple H announced this match on his conference call, and despite the lack of build, I’m very much looking forward to this one. I must admit, Kassius Ohno’s return to NXT has been underwhelming, even though he’s had good matches with various opponents, he’s been back with NXT for around a year and to be honest he feels like an enhancement talent. As for Velveteen Dream, he’s for certain an up and coming star, his match against Aleister Black at NXT Takeover: Houston was arguably the match of the night, and this potentially could be a show stealer. My prediction is simple, Velveteen Dream wins, Ohno is in NXT to put the new guys over, he will have good matches, but he’ll never be the top guy on the show.

Winner – Velveteen Dream

Undisputed Era vs Authors of Pain w/Paul Ellering (NXT Tag Team Championship)

Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly became NXT Tag Team Champions last month on an episode of NXT after defeating SAnitY, and as much as I like Fish and O’Reilly, I believe their reign will end tonight against the team of Akam and Rezar, for one reason, War Machine. Hanson and Rowe, two of WWE’s newest recruits, are both freakishly athletic wrestlers especially for their size and the image of seeing on one side of the ring Authors of Pain and the other War Machine, two behemoth teams inside one ring colliding is something I want to see.

Winner and new tag champions – Authors of Pain

Adam Cole vs Aleister Black (Extreme Rules match)

We very rarely see stipulation matches in NXT, so this yet again will feel fresh and new and considering both Cole and Black are incredible wrestlers, I think we’re in for a treat. Sometimes, in WWE in Extreme Rules matches, the wrestlers hold back, but this is NXT and because this is the only No DQ match on the show, I believe Cole and Black will give it their all and I’m calling it now, we will see blood. Black is undefeated in singles competition, and he’s already defeated Cole on an episode of NXT, in that match Cole used his arrogance and natural cockiness to try to defeat Black, but he suffered a Black Mass to taste defeat. I believe we will see Cole defeat Black tonight because on Sunday night we will see Aleister Black be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match.

Winner – Adam Cole… Bay! Bay!

Ember Moon vs. Shayna Baszler (NXT Women’s Championship)

Ember Moon’s title reign will come to end at the hands of the vicious Shayna Baszler. And personally, I think this match ought to be booked like Brock Lesnar vs John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 and Bayley vs Asuka at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Baszler should dominate and crush Moon and Moon ought to get some offence in and hit an Eclipse, but Shayna kicks out at one. As for the future of both women, I could see Ember being in the women’s Rumble, and have a good showing, but stay in NXT for another match with Baszler at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

Winner and new champion – Shayna Baszler

Andrade “Cien” Almas w/Zelina Vega vs. Johnny Gargano (NXT Championship)

I genuinely think this will be the best match of the whole weekend. The match they had at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 3 was outstanding and it stole the show. The added inclusion of Zelina Vega helped Almas in their match in August, but Johnny Gargano has a certain wife working with WWE now. I could see Candice LeRae evening the odds and remove Vega from the question, as she watches her husband Johnny Wrestling become the new NXT Champion. Then as Gargano and LeRae celebrate up the ramp, Tommaso Ciampa will make his return and not only attack Gargano but also LeRae, this sets up for me the most anticipated match-up in NXT at the biggest Takeover of the year, NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

Winner and new champion – Johnny Gargano
