Pitbull Fined, Steve Saxon Retires: What’s next for BWP?

Last Saturday night at the Callum Murray Fundraising Show at Prestatyn Ffrith Beach Arena, The Babyfaced Pitbull shocked the entire BWP Family by laying out Britannia Wrestling Promotions Founder & Owner Steve Saxon, as well as two BWP referees, in a sudden twist to what was (until that point) a fun evening for all involved.

The BWP Family were left silenced as an apparent member of the audience was invited to the ring by the BWP Owner to collect a Babyface Pitbull that he had successfully bid on live during the show. At least that’s what we all thought, until the ‘lucky winner’ made it clear that he was not there to give to charity.

Welcome ‘Baz Mac’, who wasted no time in informing Saxon and the BWP Family that he was at Ffrith Beach Arena to begin his managerial duties for the Babyfaced Pitbull. As Saxon heard this, he turned to question the former 2x PWI:BWP World Catchweight Champion, but before that was possible, the Pitbull looked Saxon square in the eyes and delivered a low blow to the boss man that sent him to the mat in agony.

As BWP Senior Referee Bryan Bennett and Junior Referee Max Davies hit the ring to assist the shocked and shattered Steve Saxon, they walked into a war zone as the Pitbull continued his path of destruction by taking both officials out with back-breaking spinebusters.

As Pitbull repeatedly told the fans in attendance that he ‘is done with them’, the voice of Baz Mac was heard ordering the ‘Canine Suplex Machine’ to finish of Saxon, and Pitbull did exactly what he was told as he viciously tore the shoulder-brace from off the boss man (who was still recovering from the fractured collarbone sustained during the Denbigh Death Match last month against The Brand). Once it was off, Pitbull locked in the Canine Clutch as Steve Saxon screamed for him to release, but the rabid Pitbull would only release his patented submission manoeuvre at the command of his new Manager, Baz Mac.

As Pitbull and Baz Mac walked out of the Ffrith Beach Arena to a deafening chorus of boos and hisses, ‘Classic’ Ciaran McConnell confronted him demanding to know what the hell was going on. Pitbull seemed to blank his old friend and continued backstage, with his new manager leading the way.

Steve Saxon was immediately taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, where it was confirmed after x-rays that his previously fractured collarbone was indeed broken after Pitbull’s sickening attack. Saxon was then discharged and returned home to his family in Chester in the early hours of Sunday morning.

This morning BWP Admin received an email from the office of Steve Saxon addressing the Babyface Pitbull situation as well as another shock announcement about his own future in Britannia Wrestling Promotions:

‘Good Morning,

On Saturday night the entire BWP Family was left in complete shock at the actions of the Babyface Pitbull, we all witnessed a different side to Pitbull, a man that I considered not only a good business associate, but a good friend. That changed on Saturday.

I have been in this business for almost 15 years and completely understand that Wrestling Superstars need to sometimes shake things up in order to remain relevant and noticed, however the actions of the Babyface Pitbull were unnecessary and he must be penalised for his actions on myself and my referee’s that he assaulted without due cause.

As a result I will be fining the Babyface Pitbull £5,000, a fine that must be paid before Britannia Wrestling Promotions will allow him to compete for our promotion again. It is with regret that it has come to this, Pitbull and I have always worked well together and I am sorry that those days are seemingly over.

A lot of people have been asking me ‘why?’ since Saturday night, a question that I do not have an answer to that question right now, it seems that only two men do have the answer, those men being Pitbull and his new Manager, Baz Mac. I have always been under the impression that Pitbull was happy with his role and ranking in Britannia Wrestling Promotions, clearly, I was mistaken.

On that note, I have been through a lot this year with Britannia Wrestling Promotions with the long, bitter feud with The Brand that was finally put to rest last month, and now this with a man I respected like a brother. This year has also seen the arrival of my daughter Sophie-Leigh, since her arrival on 11 September I personally have been hospitalised twice by disgruntled ego-maniacs within my own company.

After many hours of chatting with my wife, family and BWP Management, I have decided that enough is enough. I have dedicated 15 years of my life to this industry, and almost 5 years to Britannia Wrestling Promotions. It is now time for me to step away from Britannia for the sake of the company and for my own health and well being there will always be somebody waiting to take a physical pop at me in order to get themselves known and noticed – well, I won’t be making anybody else famous from now on, as I will be stepping down as General Manager of Britannia Wrestling Promotions shows with immediate effect.

Of course Britannia Wrestling Promotions still belongs to me, and I will of course continue my work at BWP HQ, however BWP Management will be appointing a new General Manager who will deal with the live Britannia Wrestling shows from now on. I expect that the new GM will be announced prior to or during the El Bandito Memorial Tournament in Denbigh on 08 December.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has worked for and with Britannia Wrestling Promotions over the past 4 years for making it a very special time. I have loved every minute of it, mostly, and hope that the company and product continues to grow at amazing lengths as it has been doing for the past 4 years. Most of all I would like to thanks the fans, the BWP Family, for their continued support and loyalty to BWP and for backing me, mostly, in my decisions over that time, without YOU Britannia Wrestling Promotions would be NOTHING!

For now, goodbye and thank you.
