Rasslin Roundup is back for a “go home” show leading up to Extreme Rules. Extreme Rules is scheduled for this Sunday, June 22nd 2016, and only on the WWE Network.
To open up the show, AJ Styles came out in a promo segment and further drummed up his Extreme Rules match with WWE Champion Roman Reigns. Reigns came out for his rebuttal and re-initiated his intentions and plans on keeping the title, and defeating Styles in the process. This debate and war of words led to a continued altercation with further involvement from the Uso’s and the Club (Gallows and Anderson).
This RAW heavily led into the major storylines for the PPV; including the final segment which was a contract signing with Natalya and Charlotte for the Women’s championship. In other developments, the Extreme Rules card looks as follows:
• Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin in a street fight, in the kickoff match.
• Charlotte vs. Natalya
• The New Day versus the Vaudevillians, Simon Gotch and Aiden English.
• The Miz versus Cesaro for the Intercontinental title.
• Rusev versus Kalisto for the United States title.
• Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn.
• Chris Jericho versus Dean Ambrose.
• Roman vs. AJ Styles in the main event for the WWE Championship.
Raw happenings also consisted of the disintegration of four men who have been in tag team bouts, and then paired up in an odd pairing. It was initially Sami Zayn versus Cesaro, all caused by an errant boot and subsequent loss in a Smackdown tag team match. Instead, their respective E.R. opponents got into the fray and caused a Disqualification. Instead, Shane and Stephanie McMahon re-directed this contest to a Miz and Cesaro tag team (despite being opponents prior) versus former friends and now hated enemies in Zayn and Owens. This tag match led to an Owens and Zayn win, with Owens getting the last laugh at the end.
We all found out the budding Jericho and Ambrose feud will culminate in a revamped War Games style steel cage bout with Dean’s weapons at the top of the cage. Jericho would accept the challenge. Alberto Del Rio also wrestled old foe in Kalisto in a one-on-one match. Dana Brooke’s first RAW match was successful versus Becky Lynch. And despite these growing plans with the women’s division, Sasha Banks is still muddled in the background, and Bayley is still on NXT.
Fans also saw a promo retro segment of the New Day hyping their match, and were attacked by the Vaudevillians. Then, the united finality of a tag team, as the Golden Truth of Goldust and R-Truth are now buddies, teaming up albeit in a losing effort versus Fandango and Tyler Breeze. The Club also wrestled the Uso’s in tag team action. The debut of the Shining Stars, formerly Epico & Primo, who are the former Los Matadores. These two men have a new wrinkle thus defeating Jackson and Skyler. D-Von Dudley wrestled Big Cass in singles competition as well.
In closing, what do you- the wrestling fans will predict for Sunday? Most importantly, how do they link and drag what happens on the PPV; to a big-time rating on Monday?
