SLTD Awards 2016 – The Results

Welcome to The Results of the 2016 SLTD Awards! Thank you to everyone who took part in the voting to crown the winners of our categories! So whose won? Lets have a look!

With a massive 87% of the vote AJ Styles has had an amazing year in WWE this year. From his shock entry into the Royal Rumble last January Styles has took the WWE by storm and has become the first ever person to hold every major title in Wrestling! It’s hard to top this year but am sure we haven’t seen everything Styles has to offer just yet as a rivalry with Cena is about to begin!

Charlotte may divide the WWE universe however there is no divide when it comes to the fantastic year that she has had and with 63% of the vote. Charlotte has had her best year yet becoming a four time Womens Champion since WrestleMania. Charlotte has been part of some of the most memorable matches this year and entering 2017 as the champion am sure we have more to see as her rivalry with Bayley takes off!

NXT has been outstanding this year and it was hard for everyone to come to a decision on her has been the stand out this year! With 59% of the vote Nakamura has taken the title and as the current NXT Champion rightly so! Nakamura has had some fantastic matches this year and his rivalry with Samoa Joe has been one of the best with a new rivalry beginning with Bobby Roode shortly is 2017 going to be an even better year for Nakamura?

With 77% of the vote there is no denying Asuka has had an amazing year in NXT and is still undefeated which not many people can say! Going in to 2017 is Asuka going to continue this fantastic streak and stay NXT Womens Champion?

After a dominant year in NXT The Revival have won with 59% of the vote in a difficult category this year. After beating every tag team NXT had to offer before finally losing their Tag Team Championships could a move to the main roster be on the line for The Revival in 2017?

After becoming the longest reigning ever tag team in WWE history there is no shock in New Day receiving 76% of the vote. After having the most successful year could they top it in 2017?

Not only is Baron Corbin frustrated with how he is getting used but it seem we are with him receiving 35% of the vote. With him recently being involved in the WWE Championship match are we going to see him reaching his full potential in 2017?

After becoming the second Cruiserweight Champion since the tournament there’s no denying that Brian Kendrick has made an impact onto the Cruiserweight division. Kendrick has reinvented his career in 2016, and he added some much needed WWE veteran star power to not only the Cruiserweight Classic but 205 Live too.

There is no denying that The Miz has had a fantastic 2016 and with 51% of the vote it seems the WWE universe agree! Since becoming the Intercontinental Champion The Miz has been doing some of his careers best work sealing the deal with his no infamous Talk Smack “rant”. Are we going to continue to see this fantastic work in 2017?

Right now there is currently no one more over in NXT and with 41% of the vote it looks like everyone is wanting to see more of Tye Dillinger in 2017! Could we be seeing a Number 10 entry in the Royal Rumble for the perfect 10?

With 42% of the vote there was no denying that this match did not disappoint and after creating the “Face that Runs the Place” there is no shock that this match won. With this rivalry about to reignite could we see more fantastic matches from these two in 2017?

This match happened at a time when Zayn was was having five star matches at every Takeover event, then WWE signed Nakamura. This turned out to be Zayn’s last NXT match and Nakamura’s first. After a crowd chant of “Wrestle Forever” there was no shock that this match won with 42% of the vote.

The Fantasy Warfare match that lasted only 2 minutes there is no shock that this was one of the shocking moments of 2016 with 46% of the vote. With both Goldberg and Lesnar in the Royal Rumble this year could we be in for another shocking moment later this month!

After The Final Deletion there isn’t one person, whether you are a TNA fan or have never seen it, that hasn’t heard about this match or seen it. Matt Hardy has reinvented himself in a way that no one could have predicted and it is no wonder that he has won Worldwide superstar of the year with 65% of the vote.

Survivor Series tops this years Pay Per View of the year, this was the only event of the year that bring’s us Raw vs Smackdown in an all out war, that coupled with the match billed as ‘Fantasy Warfare just got Real’ with the return of Goldberg after 12 years away and the The Beast Brock Lesnar. This would be reason enough to have this as a stand out PPV but the fact that Goldberg completely dominated Lesnar and beat him is less that 2 minute, makes this one stand out.

After finally beating RAW in the ratings last week there was no shock that Smackdown has been voted brand of the year with a massive 70% of the vote. Smackdown has been the show to watch and has gripped the audience in a way WWE never thought possible. Going in to 2017 expect to see a lot more from Smackdown!
