With SLTD Wrestling’s SummerSlam Week well underway, and Team SLTD already predicting The WWE World Championship match, the WWE Universal Championship match, and the John Cena vs. AJ Styles match, it only seemed right to finish with the match 15 years in the making Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton.

Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton will be the main event of SummerSlam due to WWE pushing it down our throats. One is coming off being on the shelf for 9 months and the other is a part-timer who does about 12 dates a year, despite nearly being the highest paid on the roster. I do have a bit of a rooting stake in Orton personally just because I really don’t like the fact Lesnar gets to do whatever he wants and gets paid much more than other guys who work 200 dates a year and have to be subject to the Wellness Policy, where Lesnar does not. However, unless some dirty tricks happen, Lesnar will continue to win and be pushed like a super monster and will likely have the WWE Universal title on him at some point soon.

My prediction for the finish of this match has rarely shifted since it was first announced. Following UFC 200, my instant reaction was that Brock Lesnar should destroy Randy Orton in 30 seconds and win. It was as simple as that. Over time however, with news of Brock’s USADA violation coming out, there have been more people convinced that WWE will “punish” Lesnar by having Orton beat him. I don’t think there’s a chance of this happening and I don’t think it should happen. Having thought about it, Orton being completely dominated by Lesnar is probably not the best way to go. After all, Orton will still be on SmackDown! after this match and he’s been on fire ever since he came back. However, there’s no way that WWE should beat Brock following his big UFC victory over Mark Hunt no matter what’s happened since.

This could very well be match of the year candidate. WWE want to advertise this as 15 years in the making, but in actual fact it does not matter. Lesnar has his own style of Suplex repeat, Suplex repeat. Whereas Orton is still one of the best in the ring and upon his return looks fresher and looser than ever. For the first time I am starting to believe The Beast can be slayed – with the point true that one RKO can knock out The Beast. I’m expecting counter after counter in what should be a more even contest than we are used to seeing with Lesnar.
I hope WWE stay away from the stale matches that Lesnar has really become. It is impressive to see, but WWE really need to recreate the dynamic. Will they? I doubt it. This will most likely fall into every other Lesnar match for the last couple of years. Loads of suplex’s, a few counters from Orton, an RKO, and then an F5 to win. The most I’m hoping out of this is an F5 countered into an RKO in mid air – but Lesnar will still come out victorious.

My feelings towards the Orton/Lesnar match was very much, “Why?”. Why should we get invested in this match? Now both competitors have interacted a few times and the video package on Smackdown was good enough, however I still feel a match 10/15 years in the making should have had a LOT more build to it, and a lot more anticipation.
Like we should be at boiling point now, excited to see both of them finally clash but yet, I don’t. Even though I’m a big Orton fan, I don’t feel the same as I usually would.
The match outcome, you have to look ahead, if Lesnar wins, then what? I doubt we’ll be seeing him again until his next payday around Wrestlemania season. There’d be no point in hurting Orton’s returning for him to go back to Smackdown as a loser, hence why I am fully for Randy Orton winning and taking the momentum and running with it on the blue brand.

The Beast v The Viper.. 12 years would of been epic. These days, not so much but this match will still take the spotlight this Sunday. Expect plenty of suplexes, RKOs and probably Paul Heyman grovelling, but don’t expect any real wrestling ability. I feel this match will be a win for Lesnar but Orton will give a good fight. I feel that Orton can afford a loss more than Lesnar and this is why it’s Lesnar who walks out victorious.
@TownNation (The Fox Files)
Suplex City vs Viperville… many are thinking due to Lesnar breaking the UFC Wellness policy that WWE will also punish him, but I don’t think so. It’s this simple – Lesnar does what he wants when he wants and on Sunday, he’s gonna take Orton to SUPLEX CITY. So with that being said, it’s gotta be Brock Lesnar for the win.

Despite everything that Lesnar offers for the company, Orton needs to go over in this one for a few reasons. Orton goes over and then faces lets say Bray Wyatt, then a win for Bray over Orton will be much bigger than it is. Plus WWE can also provide a big FU to UFC by having their guy go over a man that beat an out and out UFC guy. Finally it’s a positive outlook for WWE by having a “clean” and I use that loosely, star go over someone that has been caught for doping. An Orton win will be an all round win for me.

The Beast vs The Viper will likely be the main event this Sunday at Summerslam, as wrestling fans it’s the main event we’re all supposed looking forward to the most, however for me out of all the marquee matches Orton vs Lesnar is the match I’m least looking forward to. I’ll put this out there before I really get started on my prediction, I’m not a Brock Lesnar guy. I feel over the last few years the special attraction in Brock has gone down for me, perhaps because I feel his move set revolves around a couple of German Suplex’s and an F5. Now onto the Beast’s opponent Randy Orton, I feel ever since the return of the Viper at Battleground, I believe he’s back at best and it feels refreshing to see him back on our screens.
I expect this match to go on last as it’s the match that has received most attention and TV time on Raw and Smackdown. I see this match going two ways, either a Brock Lesnar win, with Orton hitting an RKO or two but it proves not enough to slay the Beast win, or Randy Orton can’t put Lesnar away with RKO however one simple vicious punt to the head of Lesnar could be enough to beat Brock Lesnar.
My prediction for Sunday’s winner is Lesnar, despite me not liking him and it sickens me to say it, I believe that he will win because as we all know, WWE wins when Brock Lesnar wins.

The match that is 15 years in the making. The main event. The…is anyone really bothered? The only thing I’m looking forward to is Orton reversing the F5 into an RKO. I’m growing tired of WWE’s booking of Lesnar. Yes, he fits the role of unstoppable monster but should WWE really continue to feed their stars to someone who doesn’t give back as much as they’re putting in?
Don’t get me wrong, both men have entertained me in the past and will probably continue to do so but I feel this is like an extra curricular subject at school. It’s advertised but ultimately, it’ll have little effect on your normal school day. After this, Brock Lesnar will disappear, Randy Orton will have to be given another rivalry and soon enough, it’ll stop being mentioned on TV. This match bares little effect to current programming. It’s almost like a side mission in an otherwise consistent video game. Lesnar doesn’t need the win here, I wouldn’t even say Orton NEEDS the win but it would be a sterling change in direction if he came out victorious. Even though the company continue to spout that ‘anything can happen’ my head keeps telling me not to go against the norm. Lesnar wins. Unfortunately.
