SummerSlam appears to be the final match of the AJ Styles vs. John Cena program. This also appears that it will have huge implications for both men going forward. I believe the winner of this match, which would make them the winner of the series, will get a shot at the WWE Wor_ld Champion whoever that may be. The rumors are that John Cena will be taking off a little bit of time after SummerSlam to go film season 2 of the FOX reality TV show “American Grit”, so a win for him and then have him take time off would seem to do nothing for Cena and just hurt Styles. I’m going with common sense here and say AJ Styles wins and someone gets a rare series win over John Cena.

I’ve sort of lost count of who’s won what with Cena & AJ, but all I know is that the feud needs to end now for both of theirs sake. To end their rivalry, Styles needs to win, because ultimately he’ll be going after the WWE World Heavyweight Title after you’d assume, and either Ambrose or Ziggler would be great opponents for ‘The Phenomenal One’. As for Cena he can leave with his head held high having probably put on yet another great match, putting yet another superstar over and getting little credit for it. I’m giving Styles the overwhelming victory for this one.

The face of WWE versus the face of professional wrestling should be a great crowd pleaser. Although we have seen them fight it out once at Money in the Bank 2016 where the ‘Phenomenal One’ came out with the victory, I’m predicting a John Cena win on this occasion. Don’t expect this feud to be over just yet as I believe one of these two will be next in the Smackdown title picture and keeping them away from Dean Ambrose is what I feel that the WWE will do. Expect the same match up at Backlash in September.

John Cena Vs. AJ Styles was the one match I had been looking forward to the most when it was announced for Money In The Bank. I was in two minds then, one was the aforementioned excitement of finally seeing ‘The WWE Guy’ Vs. ‘The TNA Guy’ but, on the other hand, I was a little apprehensive about WWE pulling the trigger too soon on what could have been a first time meeting at a Wrestlemania. Having said that, the match was very good and there was a clear foresight to a future rematch. The Battleground 6 Man Tag that incorporated Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson was equally as fun but I honestly feel its this match on Sunday that will be the ultimate match between Cena & Styles. Sunday will be the one we all look back on and speak about in such high regard and I’m hoping will be the point where both go their separate ways (into Intercontinental and WWE Championship rivalries respectively), not meeting again until the time is right. AJ wins.

In a rematch from their Money In the Bank battle The Phenomenal one AJ Styles in his Summerslam debut faces The Champ John Cena who is competing in his 13th consecutive Summerslam. Unfortunately for big match John I believe it’ll be unlucky number 13, as AJ Styles will defeat Cena for the second time in 3 months. Here’s why, firstly Cena is taking a break following Summerslam to record the second series of American Grit, therefore he will likely be missing Smackdown’s first exclusive PPV in Backlash, so it wouldn’t make sense for someone to win a big match just to disappear for a couple of months in my opinion unless your Brock Lesnar. Also AJ Styles is Smackdown’s top heel on the roster and even though I’m contradicting myself from my comments on the Ambrose vs Ziggler match I think in WWE the top feud on Smackdown needs to be the top baby face in Dean Ambrose vs the top heel in AJ Styles. Therefore this Sunday AJ Styles will #BeatUpJohnCena and in 3 weeks at Backlash he will #BeatUpDeanAmbrose for his first ever title in the WWE.

The finish to this match really did hinge on what happened at the end of SmackDown! When AJ Styles laid out John Cena with the Phenomenal Forearm, there was a big part of me that thought that Cena was going to pick up the victory at SummerSlam. Usual protocol in WWE, whenever John Cena is laid out on the show before the pay-per-view, is for Cena to go over in the big match. It’s happened so many times before. Not to mention that Cena has yet to beat AJ in a singles match. As I thought this, Cena quickly fought back and ended the show by giving AJ an Attitude Adjustment through the announce table. As soon as that happened, I switched horses immediately. Of course, I could be completely wrong and Cena will win anyway. However, with the way that they finished SmackDown! and with rumours of Cena going away for a while, I think AJ will once again defeat Big Match John.

Now, this is one of the feuds that I’ve enjoyed thoroughly, just like Owens vs Zayn. It’s been interesting, and bringing up New Japan is pretty darn cool. I will say, I think this will be a One on One match with NO Club interference, although there could be a possibility of a Finn Balor interference… it’s a tough one, but with Cena going to film for a couple of months, I think they’ll make Cena “injured” storyline wise so after saying this, my prediction is AJ Styles to win.

AJ wins this match. Not just because of the rumoured Ambrose feud, not just because we’ve been told Cena is off filming other things, it’s because AJ is the top heel, and probably the biggest star on SD. They are arguably 1-1 anyway, and Cena doesn’t need the win as much as AJ does going forward.
