SLTD Predicts – Owens vs. Rollins – Hell in a Cell

Its that time of the month again, the Raw exclusive PPV Hell in a Cell is on Sunday and as always the SLTD Team have got together to give their thoughts on the main event match between WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and his challenger Seth Rollins, but who do we think will walk out of the Hell in a Cell match as Champion?

Make sure you get your Hell in a Cell predictions in for this round of the SLTD Predictions League – HERE

@TheWWEVoiceless (The Voice of Reason)
The build to the WWE Universal Championship match between the title holder Kevin Owens and challenger Seth Rollins has been entirely centered around Chris Jericho and the infamous List of Jericho. With Y2J not being on the match card at Hell In A Cell, the title match will inevitably have outside interference. WWE seem to be setting up Jericho vs. Owens and hence after Rollins will follow up his feud with Triple H. This makes the match result quite clear with Owens walking away with the title. The only surprise in my eyes is how this happens and how Jericho (or perhaps Triple H) will be involved in the end result and perhaps a few great spots in the match also. Either way, Kevin Owens is walking out the longest reigning WWE Universal Champion.

The Universal Title needs prestige at this stage still so soon after being introduced. WWE need to decide on whether they think the ratings will pick up with Owens as champion, or to abort a sinking ship and have Rollins ‘reclaim’ the main title of the brand.
Personally speaking I think Kevin Owens has been one of if not the dullest champion of the modern era and certainly needs something to be done to boost the show.
I think for the sake of making the RAW main event scene interesting again, I’d have Seth Rollins capture the title.
The big question is, what role does Chris Jericho have to play?

@TomRobinson5199 (Armbar Analysis)
Here we are again. It’s Owens vs Rollins for the Universal title again, with the match taking place inside Hell in a Cell. I think the writing’s on the wall for this one, as Survivor Series in Toronto is fast approaching. The Canadian Kevin Owens being the champion works beautifully as it gets a hometown favourite in the main title picture. I personally think it would be unwise for Rollins, with Owens vs Jericho in Toronto being an appropriate match for the November pay-per-view.

Personally I will not be watching the HIAC PPV, I have no desire to watch a brand that can’t entertain me for 3 hours of TV let alone 3 hours of a PPV. The Three so called main events don’t deserve to be Hell in a Cell matches, neither of them have reached the stage of being considered worthy enough of being a HIAC match. The build to all three feuds has been laughable, Seth is bitter because he got kicked to the curb, KO has been made to look weak, their feud has been propped up by a list belonging to Chris Jericho, and looming in the background is Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Due to WWE’s inept booking the Seth Rollins face turn has been painful to watch, even now he doesn’t exhibit the traits of a face, is he even that likable? Kevin Owens on the other hand has been made to look weak and a coward, his victory was hugely tainted and in the weeks since he has been overshadowed by veteran Chris Jericho. There is no doubt that this match may steal the show, however I do see some Triple H skulduggery taking place.

In my opinion this feud has been quite stale, it’s revolved more around Kevin Owens best friend Chris Jericho. I think this match will almost certainly involve an interference either from Jericho or Triple H, I predict that Rollins and Owens will break out of the cell and maybe Rollins could dive off the cell onto Owens through the announcers table. However due to the cell wall being broken, I anticipate Chris Jericho to help his best friend, but his plan backfires as he hits Owens with a steel chair and Rollins throws Jericho out of the ring and pins Owens for the win.

This is the match at HIAC I’m the most anticipated for, personally I do think the build up has been excellent, but with the champ getting the upper hand on RAW, that usually means the opponent wins at the PPV, and honestly I do NOT see this happening, although I do hope the feud continues onto Survivor Series, therefore retaining the championship, MY MAN, Kevin Owens

@ColinHebert614 (The Curtain Jerker)
I have been mystified by the booking of this match. Yes, Kevin Owens is the WWE Universal Champion, but to the untrained wrestling fan, you might have thought Chris Jericho is in the main event. Owens will undoubtedly keep the title, I just have no idea of how they are going to book him to win it. I’ll say some shenanigans will happen involving Jericho that will keep the title on Owens. Hopefully WWE will book it better than what I am thinking they will.

@Tybo_SLTD (Tybo Talks)
I have to be honest, the build for this match aside the fact that there are 3 matches contested in a Hell in a Cell on Sunday is not great. The Hell in a Cell match used to be a huge draw and something very special when used sparingly to elevate a PPV card and the superstars involved. It has now become an annual event of cheep pops and cheaper spots. I have no idea how WWE, and especially Raw’s booking team are going to match 3 cell matches special, memorable and different from the last.

The build to this match has been an interesting one, the actual feud between Owens and Rollins has almost been pushed to the side in the place of Jericho being the glue that holds this whole feud together. Looking at the bigger picture this does make sense as I would be very shocked if they didn’t do Jericho vs. Owens at Survivor Series, I mean it is in Toronto. The bigger question is will it before the Universal Championship or will they take the Championship off Owens and just have Owens vs. Jericho leaving them open to have Rollins vs. Triple H for the Championship? Elevating the prestige of the title, and cementing Rollins main event status. I would personally love to see this so, I’m all for Rollins winning on Sunday.

That’s what Team SLTD thinks will happen at No Mercy, but what do you think?
