SLTD Predicts – Owens vs. Rollins – Universal Championship

This Sunday is the first Raw exclusive WWE PPV of the ‘New Era’ The main event is Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, but I’m sure you all know that by now. So, as always the ever growing Team SLTD have gotten together to share our thoughts on that match, and who we all think will walk out the main man for Team Red.

Share your thoughts below, or let us know on Twitter or Facebook who you think will be the Universal Champion on Monday’s Raw.

@Ciaran_HEEL (WriteLegendWrite)
There is no doubt that Kevin Owens is walking in as champ, and walking out as champ, WWE did not go to the
lengths they did on Raw to make him Universal champ to have him lose it four weeks later. AS much as
Rollins/Owens is the main event there is a much larger story here, the result and actions of tomorrow night lead to
Seth vs Triple H. But for now the focus is the Universal Title, KO is the current champion and it would be a bad
decision to him have lose it as it will devalue his reign and the man himself. Kevin on TV was basically handed the
title, in the four way on Raw he did next to nothing and needed the help of Triple H to capture the championship.
Owens has done his best to wear the title with pride but WWE have handled the booking of reign very badly, Raw
has been mediocre to watch and he has been placed in numerous matches with old foes, heading into this match
he’s coming off a clean loss to Roman Reigns. Seth heads into this match the perceived face yet still acting the heel,
his turn is three months to late and WWE seem unable to pull the trigger fully. Once more WWE have placed
themselves firmly in the corner, the options available can push one man and damage another. I 100% see ‘The
Prizefighter’ retaining, I think Triple H will once more make his presence known and cost Seth the match.

@TownNation (The Fox Files)
Owens vs Rollins could definitely be a match of the year candidate, with many awesome moments that could happen. With Triple H in the mix, I definitely do think he could interfere in the match. My prediction though is that Kevin Owens will retain the Universal Championship

@callumowen98 (Facebook Manager)
This easily could be a match of year candidate between KO and The Architect for the WWE Universal title, however the build for the match has been awful, it’s focused more on Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon and whether Stephanie is in cahoots with Triple H who costed his former protege Rollins the title 4 weeks ago on Raw. Personally I think Owens wins with help from Triple H, it’s almost too obvious to predict.

@maruwe22 (What Would Matt Do?)
Owens vs Rollins can only go one way – an Owens win. I will happily admit I was shocked as anyone else when he got the win, but now he needs to keep hold of it and in anyway possible. The good thing with Owens being a heel is that he can do anything he wants and it will only add to his persona; beat Rollins fair and square then he can brag about it, if he cheats to win then he can still brag about it. Will we see Triple H interfere again? Will Stephanie get involved? Who knows. All I know is that I would bet a million dollars that Owens retains and we continue on living in KO-Mania.

@TomRobinson5199 (Armbar Express)
From a storyline perspective, it would make no sense for the Universal title to change hands at Clash of Champions. Unless they want to continue with angle of having every champion have a short title reign, WWE would have to have a very good reason for beating Kevin Owens this early. I don’t think babyface Seth should win the title this early nor would a short Kevin Owens title reign help anybody. Kevin Owens wins somehow, preferably with help from Triple H so we can move forward with the Seth/Triple H program while Owens can have new challengers to the title

@AdamOB_UTS (Under The Spotlight)
As a huge fan of both Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, and somebody who thought that awarding the WWE Universal Championship to “The Prizefighter” was one of the best moments in this generation of the product, it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that the build-up to this match has just been so lacklustre.
I think Roman Reigns being so heavily involved took away from Owens and Rollins, who are supposed to be the premier athletes heading into Sunday, but have just played second fiddle to the big dog once again.
That said, the match itself is going to be pivotal in setting the standard as far as WWE Universal Championship defences go. They need to set a precedent for all future battles with this title on the line, and if it means just shutting up and fighting, then Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins are going to pull off an extraordinary match.
Taking the title off KO at this stage would just do more harm than good, since the title is still in its early days and needs a strong champion to give it some value, and since Seth Rollins is still not quite in fully-fledged babyface mode, so he needs more time chasing the strap to rally the fans behind him and make it that much more rewarding when he inevitably captures the gold. This win has Kevin Owens written all over it.

As you can see Team SLTD sees a clean sweep for Kevin Owens, with no one thinking Rollins will walk out the champion. Do you agree?
