We are well under way with SLTD Wrestling’s #SurvivorWeek, and by now I’m sure you all know what we do. Once again Team SLTD has gotten together to give our thoughts on whether or not the Intercontinental Championship will change brands this Sunday at Survivor Series.
Want to know if Team SLTD thinks the Cruiserweight Division will move brands? Read Here
We all give our thoughts below, give them a read and then tell us what you think.

I see the IC Title moving to Raw temporarily. With the title change taking place on Smackdown, there’s really little to suggest that Sami Zayn won’t be walking out as the new IC Champion. Now I have said I see this being a temporary measure as I see Zayn being traded to Smackdown, quite possibly for Miz in the near future.

I think The Miz’s title victory on SmackDown! basically confirmed the grand theory I’ve had in my head about this match. For you see, I don’t believe that the Intercontinental Championship will leave SmackDown! nor do I think will it do any good to leave the blue brand without a midcard belt to fight over, even if they get the cruiserweight title as well. However, I also convinced that Sami Zayn will win the Intercontinental Championship. It’s my theory that Zayn will beat the Miz and then jump ship to SmackDown! with the belt, giving the blue brand a major coup whether they win the majority of the Survivor Series matches or not. There’s a small part of me that thinks Miz will retain the title too but either way, the title stays on Tuesday nights.

The Miz has been the best heel since the brand split, let’s face it everybody hates him and rightfully so. Everybody was shocked when Miz beat Ziggler during Smackdown this week, and ruining a possible match of the year bout between Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler. So now this Sunday we’ll see firm favourite Sami Zayn face The Miz and if Zayn wins he’ll take the Intercontinental Championship to Raw. Even though I like Sami and I believe he deserves the IC belt I don’t want the belt go over to the red brand for one main reason, Raw already has the US Title which is a mid card belt as is the IC belt, therefore it’s a waste if both titles are on the same show, and the IC title has found some relevance again on Smackdown with a stunning feud between Miz and Ziggler. So my head says one thing and my heart says another, but I’ll stick with my head and say Miz beats Sami on Sunday, but I will be overjoyed if Sami wins but concerned about what the future holds for the IC title on Raw.
@maruwe22 (What Would Matt Do?)
If the IC Title moves show from SmackDown to Raw then it will be like throwing oil onto a fire. At the moment, Raw is over loaded with wrestlers, titles and poorly written backstage interviews. The last thing they need is another title to the mix to make the viewers more confused and to take away from the prestige of the IC Title which has been built up on SmackDown recently. Also, what happens with the US Title? You’ll have the WWE Universal Championship as the primary belt, but what about the US title? Having two secondary titles on the same show will just confuse things even more. Let Raw focus on what it has at the moment before thinking about adding another belt to it and if there is another belt needed, bring back the European Championship!

First off I’d like to say I’m all for Zayn winning the IC Title, but I want the title to stay on Smackdown, so WWE, please make this happen! Zayn needs a direction and meaning he’s so much more than what he’s been given lately and having him on Smackdown is the new lease of life needed! Maybe Ziggler screws Miz. Or Miz retains, Smackdown draft Zayn and then he wins the title! So much could happen with this and I’m really interested in what direction this goes, the only thing I don’t want to happen is Raw to end up with both the IC Title and US Title!
So I’m not really predicting just hoping Zayn wins the belt and ends up on Smackdown…. a guy can dream right?

At Wrestlemania 32 the Intercontinental Title reached an all time low when Zack Ryder was crowned champion in a multi man ladder match, out of the blue the career low mid-carder was victorious. Less then 24hrs later Ryder was forced to defend the title against the Miz, once more on another post WM Raw a title changed hands, the masses were upset that Zack was treated so poorly….but really Zack Ryder as IC champion?? No thanks.
The Miz alongside the returning Maryse slowly resurrected the once illustrious lineage of belt, for 188 days the Miz became one of the best IC title holders in recent memory. His character, match and promo quality all seemed to benefit from him being champion, The Miz literally came back from career suicide to become one of the companies hottest commodities. After the brand split Miz and GM Daniel Bryan couldn’t seem to get along, their constant swipes at each other could not be contained, the boiling point came on an episode of Talking Smack where reality seemed to blend with make believe all too easily. Soon after that Dolph Ziggler was searching from redemption, he saw it in the form of champion Miz, the feud slowly took over WWE programming and had everyone talking on social media. Miz & Dolph seemed to feed off each other, they traded remarks on SDLive as tension boiled, all the while Miz also sparred with Daniel Bryan. At No Mercy the two met for the IC Title, with his career on the line Dolph emerged victorious, the weeks long story had come full circle and Ziggler had finally one the big one. Five weeks after No Mercy WWE announced the Ziggler vs Zayn Survivor Series match, one weeks after that Miz defeated Dolph to regain the IC Title and will instead go to face Sami Zayn, talk about a turn of events.
If Miz was given the title just to lose to Sami to further fuel his pointless feud with Bryan then the Intercontinental Championship might as well be tossed into the trash, the upside is however that if Sami does win he will come to SDLive, which would be great. What I don’t want is the IC Title going to Raw just because the Cruiserweights are going to Smackdown, that would be highly detrimental to the blue brand, Miz and Dolph. The Miz has done far too much this year to used just to potentially get Sami on SDLive, Dolph has also been too good just to be an afterthought. WWE for some reason have thrown 2 months of storyline out the window for a feud that can’t go anywhere, if this is just a stunt to have Daniel Bryan banish Miz then WWE really don’t know what they are doing.

Here comes a match we did not expect. The Miz vs. Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series, a mere 5 days after the Miz won the title on SmackDown Live. This could be a great match as the Miz had proven he can work a variety of superstars at a great quality and Zayn just has amazing matches. While I feel the Ziggler vs. Zayn match would deliver a much better show, the Miz winning the title actually makes sense, as the inner on Sunday will be Sami Zayn.
Zayn has proved he can hold his own in the ring and on the microphone. He’s a well liked heel that has the potential for greatness and winning the Intercontinental Championship only helps that. It would also make sense for Zayn to win the belt from a heel like the Miz in Canada where Zayn is from. The only problem is having the Intercontinental Championship and U.S. Championship both on Monday Night Raw. The swerve? Zayn gets drafted to SmackDown with the belt somehow. Either way, this will be a great match and interesting to watch unfold.

Although I think there’s reason to justify the WWE Cruiserweight Championship making the switch to SmackDown Live, it’s a completely different story with the Intercontinental Championship.
The cruiserweights are relatively new to WWE, and despite the small crater it would leave in the weekly line-up for Monday Night Raw if they lost the purple division, the mid-card title on SmackDown Live would be a far more significant loss.
It can be heavily argued that the excellent work done by The Miz since SummerSlam has made the IC Title the most must-see strap in the WWE, at least in the height of the feud with Dolph Ziggler, which in turn has made the product on Tuesdays that much more exhilarating.
Sami Zayn is an absolute treasure, and I would be more than happy in the moment if he was to walk out with his first main roster championship on Sunday night, but the ramifications this development would have for the blue brand are not good.
Of course, the best case scenario would be for Sami to win and make the switch to SmackDown himself, but I don’t see any way that Raw would believably trade away its new champion. If they can work around that, fantastic, but for now I’m hoping for The Miz to pull one out of the hat.
