Once again Team SLTD have gotten together to give our thoughts on who we think will come out victorious at Summer Slam in the WWE Championship Match. Will the ‘Modern Day Maharaja’ retain, or will the ‘Artist of Strong Style’ capture his first main roster gold?
We all give our thoughts below, let us know in the comments below who you think will win

Ever since Shinske Nakamaura was calmed up to the main roster from NXT, everyone has been waiting for the “Artist” to get his shot at being Champion. Jinder Mahal has had a really good run as Champion and has been generating seriously heel heat. The styles of the two men couldn’t be more different; Mahal is brute strength and Nakamura is the King of Hardstyle. These 2 will put on a great match that could very well be match of the night status… But, who wins? As much as I love Nakamura, I see Mahal retaining here. Jinder plays the heel Champion so well and was made for this role. Literally, a year ago, who would have thought we would see these two against each other for the WWE Championship? Kudos to WWE for pulling the trigger on this match.

Baron Corbin’s failed cash-in during SmackDown! did throw a curve ball heading into SummerSlam. Now there’s only two men that can walk out of SummerSlam as champion – Jinder Mahal or Shinsuke Nakamura. As much as I hate having Jinder as our champion and as much as a Nakamura title win would get over like crazy, I don’t think they’d pull the trigger on Nakamura. I think Jinder is more to Vince’s liking and the chances are, Jinder’s here to stay.

Does anyone else feel like this feud is kind of, uneventful? I’ve hardly seen Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura interact with each other so far, it doesn’t feel like a big match build up. There was more with Nakamura and Cena than for ‘The King of Strong Style’ and Mahal.
It really depends on if WWE currently see Jinder’s title reign as a success, has it been adequate enough for their purpose intended? If not then the smart thing to do would be to put the title on Shinsuke and give him a lengthy title run, booked very strongly, up until Wrestlemania season where we’d then perhaps revisit the John Cena match.
Of course, let’s not forget about the wildcard, Mr Money In The Bank, Baron Corbin. Would it be too soon for him to cash in? For me replacing Mahal with Corbin right now would be a terrible idea, as both are probably on par with how much improvement they have to do.
It’d be nice to see Shinsuke win the title, and perhaps this would be the time to pull the trigger and cut the cord on a very mixed Mahal title run.

My original prediction for this Sunday’s WWE Title match was for Baron Corbin to cash in on Shinsuke Nakamura, after the “King of Strong Style” defeated “The Maharaja” however on last week’s Smackdown Live The “Lone Wolf” unsuccessfully cashed in his Money In the Bank so throws my originally prediction straight out the window. So my revised prediction still sees Nakamura defeat Mahal and send “The Maharaja” back to jobbersvile population 1.

I was just as shocked as anyone when Jinder Mahal won the WWE Championship but I’ll be honest he has actually been a really good champ! He has the whole gimmick down to a T and it really has been great to watch! I normally hate the whole I need two smaller guys to protect me but even the Singh Brothers aren’t annoying me which shows they are doing what they should be right and not making anything to unbelievable!
Nakamura has taken WWE by storm! He was great in NXT and has been great since coming up to the main roster. Nakamura is one of them people who even when he isn’t in the main pictures you know what he’s doing and enjoy his matches! I know he’s done fantastic work outside of WWE and to me getting the WWE Championship will be the icing on the cake but I can’t help thinking it may be a little too soon as I wouldn’t want him to peak and then get lost in the mix! After the failed cash in this week on SDLive it looks like Corbin won’t be in the mix at all (unless he just wants to interfere for the fun of it) I think we may now be seeing Jinder retain! The work he’s doing outside of the ring as well as inside it makes me think he’s still got time left in his run and who knows maybe a grander stage will be used for Nakamura’s first WWE Championship run!

It’s no secret that I was shocked that WWE put the WWE championship on Mahal, but his title reign has been a breath of fresh air. It hasn’t been without its issues don’t get me wrong but on the whole he has cemented himself an a legitimate champion. He is getting great heat, cutting solid promos and having decent matches. What more do you want from a champion? As for Nakamura being Number One Contender, I think it could be a little too soon. If he wins the title on Sunday, then drops it in 3 months, where does he go from there? I would hate to see WWE pull the trigger so soon and it back fire on them and Nakamura.
The think I like most about this match is that it is showing that Smackdown really is the land of opportunity. With the red brand having their main event with four guys who you could see being World Champion any day of the week, Smackdown opted to go for a two guys who you would never expect in the main event of such a huge show.
When its all said and done the ‘Modern Day Maharaja’ will still be atop of the mountain.
There are our thoughts on the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam, but what are yours?
