Once again Team SLTD have gotten together to give our thoughts on this year Hall of Fame inductee Beth Phoenix
We all give our thoughts below, let us know in the comments below what you think of the next inductee!
@ZacJones_SK (Five Good Five Bad)
Any criticism of Beth Phoenix’s Hall of Fame induction by people who were hoping for Chyna is completely out of order. Chyna will have her place and will surely go in eventually, and as for Beth Phoenix, she is more than worthy of her induction. Beth looked like a superstar from the moment she debuted and backed that up with her in-ring ability, she dominated the divas division during her tenure and was also able to show an entertaining side of herself when partnering with Santino Marella. Beth Phoenix made her mark in the WWE at a time when the female performers were not given the same opportunities that they are today. She will also go in as the youngest inductee in WWE’s Hall of Fame at just 36 years old.

Beth Phoenix is one underrated female wrestler. She was active in a time where women’s wrestling was crossing over from eye candy smut to proper wrestling. She would be appreciated a hell of a lot more as a wrestler if she had todays talent to work with. Thoroughly deserved spot in the HOF

Much like Teddy Long’s induction, I do think there’s a few wrestlers who may deserve a place in the HOF before Phoenix, however during her time in WWE she left a big impact, in a time where the divas division was full of eye candy and toilet break matches, I believe Beth Phoenix tried to bring a different aspect to the division, she was a legit athlete and realistically, she could step into the men’s division and be a wrestler much like Chyna was years prior. I also believe that Phoenix is the one of the only wrestlers in the era of Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly etc. who could step in the ring today and have a great match against the likes of Charlotte.

Beth Phoenix getting inducted has been met with surprise and a little criticism as a result of older, perhaps more prominent female stars not yet being honoured – but personally I think Beth is absolutely deserving of the role.
Phoenix was a huge breath of fresh air during her tenure with WWE, at a time when the division was flying way under the radar as a result of several stars being considered mere models as opposed to professional wrestlers. “The Glamazon” was equal parts beauty as she was talent, with a physique and a dominance that both made her look like a million bucks and made her opponents look credible for merely standing their ground against her.
On top of her work inside the ring, she’s a fantastic person, as I had the privilege of meeting her both in Dublin and Miami as she was gearing up for WrestleMania 28. I’m thrilled to see Beth go down in history and be acknowledged for her efforts during a transitional era in women’s wrestling.

The Glamazon Beth Phoenix was a ray of hope during the dark days of WWE’s Women’s Division. Whilst the then ‘Diva’s Division’ was dominated by cover models and fitness trainers, not professional wrestlers. She didn’t the look like the ‘typical’ Divas look for WWE at the time, and that added to her appeal.
Soon after her debut in 2007, she was pushed to the moon winning the Women’s Championship a few months later. Throughout the rest of her career she was always booked dominantly, whether it be face or heel. Much like Chyna before her, she was the only women on the roster that could potentially be seen as a legitimate threat to male competition. This was proven when she became the second woman ever to enter the Royal Rumble, and eliminated The Great Khali.
It’s a shame Beth Phoenix was in the WWE during a time where women’s wrestling was treated like the ‘toilet break’ during shows. But it’s thanks to women like her for laying the foundations for what the women’s division is now.

With Beth, she came into the Fed when the company was Bra and Panties matches, Diva Searches and stuff like that, she was the person to push that away and give women’s wrestling a boost again, she could have a great match with any of the female talent she stepped into the ring with and she was one of the only women in the Fed to hold the original Women’s Championship and the Diva’s Championship.
