With WrestleMania right around the corner and SLTD Wrestling’s ‘ManiaMonth’ well under way, the SLTD Team have come together to share our thoughts on The Big Boss Man’s Hall of Fame Induction.
Below are our thoughts, but as always we invite you to share yours below, or on our Twitter and Facebook.

I’m all for Boss Man getting into the Hall of Fame. Boss Man withstood the test of time in terms of being a relevant and top star. He started out as part of the “Golden Era” and after a stint at WCW, he came back and was able to fit into the new “Attitude Era.” A thing that really stands out to me are wrestlers that are able to preserve their characters and adapt them for new surroundings. Boss Man was able to do this well and that should be thoroughly respected.

Yet another interesting pick for this year’s Hall Of Fame, Big Boss Man worked for both WWF and WCW during the Monday Night Wars. Personally I feel there’s more deserving superstars to go into the Hall Of Fame than the Boss Man. I also feel some inductions can make a mockery of the yearly ceremony, however every Hall of Fame needs a mid card section and much like The Godfather, Big Boss Man fills this spot fine and it’s good on WWE’s part that the Boss Man is posthumously recognised in this year’s Hall Of Fame.

The Big Boss Man was not necessarily an iconic figure, but not everyone can be the main event. Boss Man was pivotal in paving the way for future generations by playing the mid card heel and face to perfection. If you went through The Boss Man, everyone knew you were the real deal. His evolution is something everyone should follow. Congratulations to The Big Boss Man.

Is Boss Man worthy of a Hall of Fame induction? Personally I don’t think so. WWE seem to be stuck in this idea that everyone who stepped in a WWE ring is acceptable, that is not the case. Ray Taylor had a good career but it was not Hall of Fame worthy at all, he had had stints in JCP, WCW, NJPW & WWE where he received moderate success. His career as a wrestler never changed history or had any memorable moments that were remembered……except stealing the Big Show’s father….who at the time was in a casket. Yes for many modern day fans that is the everlasting memory of the Big Boss Man.

Big Boss Man stood the test when it comes to working one gimmick, but working it in a way where it works in more than one era in the WWE. Than in itself is an amazing feat. I have more memories of the Attitude Era Boss Man than the Federation Era. Boss Man may not have been the main event but there was a point where he was easily one of the most vicious heels in the WWE, whether it was crashing the Big Show’s fathers’s funeral and stealing the coffin, or feeding Al Snow his own dog, Big Boss Man was a great Hardcore Champion and a great addition to the Attitude Era roster.
