The Voice of Reason: Ambrose Asylum

For as long as I can remember, it feels like The Lunatic Fringe has been the backup for his brother in arms Roman Reigns. From his feud with The Wyatt Family to now feuding with Sheamus and the newly formed League of Nations. But what we have lacked, and what we have craved recently, is for Dean Ambrose to develop his own character.

The relationship that Reigns and Ambrose have is great. It is natural, it makes sense in the story and is vaguely reminiscent of The Shield days. I hope their relationship is one that lasts, but for now, I think their needs to be some separation.

Ambrose has everything it takes to be the top guy for WWE. In the same way that Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns do. These three superstars can be reigning on top of the company for many years to come, and that definitely is a great prospect. However, in many ways, Dean Ambrose is more over with the fans, he has entertainment value, fantastic in the ring and even better on the microphone.

There’s not much wrong with his current character. The only thing I would say is that I miss his early Shield character where he was a badass twisted Joker type persona. The only issue that is consistent, is the continued backup for Reigns. Let’s put it this way, Reigns has more pounds, is taller, more powerful and perhaps quicker. Why does he consistently need back up?

Ambrose needs to branch out on his own. Create his own legacy, develop his own run and momentum. Feuding with the likes of Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Ziggler, Del Rio, will really do that for Ambrose, and let him find him character a bit more, as I feel there’s more to develop.

Eventually, Ambrose needs to become as Steve Austin and CM Punk used to be for the company. He needs to be that edgier voice, and be definitely needs more microphone time. Let’s hope he gets it.

Got some interesting stuff coming soon. Stay tuned. Til next week.
