#TheWrestlingBrain Fastlane Review (@callumowen98)

Hello its me TWB, and I’m here to bring you my thoughts on last night’s Fastlane PPV, which was live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Shield Stand Tall For Final Time?
In the main event of Fastlane, The Shield reunited for potentially the last time, as the trio defeated Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley. Roman Reigns wrestled his first match for around 5months since he took time off to beat leukaemia, he looked in great shape and hadn’t lost a beat.

It has been confirmed that Dean Ambrose will be leaving WWE in April, and even though he may still re-sign, I am assuming Ambrose is out of the door in a few weeks time, and last night was the last time we’ll see The Shield team together. Unsurprisingly Shield won, in what was a pretty dominating fashion. Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns hit the Triple Powerbombed on Corbin for the pinfall.

Kofi Gets Screwed
During the pre-show Kofi Kingston was summoned to Vince McMahon’s office to talk about the WWE Title picture. He was told that the WWE Title Match was now a Triple Threat, so everybody assumed Kofi would be the 3rd man. Kofi went out to the ring for his match, but instead of being in the WWE Title Match, he had to face The Bar in a handicap match. Kofi lost, and the crowd weren’t impressed. Personally I was fine with this booking, I think Kofi beats Bryan at Mania to win the championship infront of a massive crowd and he’ll get a huge pop for it, a much bigger pop and overall reaction than to him winning the WWE Title at a ‘B’ PPV like Fastlane

Ali Overcomes Adversity
Poor Mustafa Ali! He was unveiled as the 3rd man in the Triple Threat Match and the crowd weren’t happy. Everyone was expecting Kofi but instead it was Ali who got the opportunity for the WWE Title. It was a tough for the babyface and the relatively new to the main roster Ali, but he pulled out an incredible performance, where he put his body on the line during numerous spots. Ali got dropkicked from the turnbuckle straight into the barricade, he then hit a Tornado DDT onto Bryan on the outside and then was defeated by running knee by Bryan whilst attempting another move off the top rope.

McMiz Is No More
After The Miz was pinned in the Smackdown Tag Title Match, his partner Shane McMahon decided to turn heel on him. Miz and McMahon were consoling with Miz’s dad George, and then Shane attacked Miz from behind, and would beat him up on the outside, and would even shove Miz’s dad back into his chair. I think everybody expected Miz to turn on Shane, so this was a cool swerve to do, and seeing Shane as a heel is something that feels fresh and different.

Beth Is Back
So this is what I was most surprised by the whole show, after losing their Women’s Tag Titles Match Nia Jax and Tamina continued to attack Bayley and Sasha Banks. Beth Phoenix who was on commentary went face to face with Tamina, she punched Tamina, but was beatdown and laid out in the end by Nia and Tamina alongside her friend Natalya. Now Beth Phoenix and Natalya vs Tamina and Nia Jax isn’t a match that I’m particularly looking forward to just because I don’t rate either Nia or Tamina but I hope we get a few matches out of Beth. She is definitely one of the most underappreciated female wrestlers in WWE history, and she could definitely have a series of great matches against Bayley, Sasha, Becky, Charlotte and Asuka.

Other Thoughts
I really enjoyed the majority of the show. The Raw Tag Team Title Match was outstanding with Ricochet being on absolute fire. He’s got a great future ahead of him in WWE. The US Title Match was really solid, Rey and Andrade have great chemistry together and R-Truth is another wrestler who is underappreciated especially for someone who’s in his mid 40’s and can still go at quick and entertaining pace deserves recognition. Samoa Joe retaining is the best call, I think he could be set to face his fellow former UPW roster member John Cena at Wrestlemania.

Becky Lynch winning thanks to Ronda Rousey’s assistance makes sense, but personally I’d still much prefer just a one on one match between Ronda and Becky instead of the Triple Threat with Charlotte. Asuka retaining was unsurprising against Mandy Rose, but her position on the Mania card is still firmly up in the air. I have zero clue who she could defend the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship against, my only suggestion is Shayna Baszler.

Those are my thoughts on Fastlane, hope you all enjoyed the show, out of 10, I’d give it a 7. The Raw Tag, US and WWE Title matches are all worth watching. Let me know in the comments what you made of the show, and I hope we all have fun on the road to Wrestlemania
