#TheWrestlingBrain: NXT Takeover – Brooklyn 4 Predictions (@callumowen98)

Hello, it’s me TWB and Happy Anniversary to me! This is the third year anniversary of my NXT Takeover predictions articles and I wanted to say thank you to everyone whether this is your first time reading my articles or if you’ve read every single one I appreciate it.

Anyway, here we are again. Back at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York and what a sensational card we will look at and predict, and there’s no better time than the present so let’s get on with our first match.

EC3 vs Velveteen Dream

EC3 and Velveteen Dream, are two of my favourite characters in NXT, and neither of these superstars should lose, which makes this match tougher to predict. Velveteen Dream is vastly growing as one of the best characters in NXT history, but his Takeover record isn’t that good, aside from his win over Kassius Ohno at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia he has lost every single match, and his opponent EC3 is making his singles debut at a Takeover event on Saturday night. The Top 1 percent and The Dream began their feud at the Royal Albert Hall shows in June, after Dream walked out on his partner in a tag team match.

In my opinion, both could be on the main roster, their character work is outstanding and their connection to the crowd is constantly growing. A defeat for either man could hurt their careers, as both men desperately need the victory. However, I believe EC3 will be victorious because as seen on previous Takeover’s Velveteen Dream loses, but he has never lost his momentum.
Winner – EC3

Tag Team Championship: Undisputed Era vs Moustache Mountain

This will be the third match between the two teams in the last few months. In the first bout, the team of Tyler Bate and Trent Severn defeated Strong and O’Reilly for the tag belts in the Royal Albert Hall, in front of raucous UK crowd. Then a few weeks later back across the pond at Full Sail, Strong and O’Reilly regained the titles after Bate threw in the towel for his mentor and partner Severn.

So what will happen in the rubber match? Can the British duo defeat the tag champions again, to recapture the belts, or could we even see a heel turn from either Bate or Severn? I’m going to take a risky punt and say Trent Severn will turn heel on Tyler Bate but not join Undisputed Era. Severn turning and attacking Bate will lead Strong and O’Reilly retaining the titles. This could then lead to a Bate vs Severn feud, and an Undisputed Era vs War Machine feud.
Winners – Undisputed Era

North American Championship: Adam Cole vs Ricochet

This will be match of the night, Ricochet and Adam Cole are in my opinion the best two competitors in NXT currently. This time last year I was stood up in my room at 3:30 am screaming Adam Cole Bay! Bay! after he made his NXT debut, and a year on since any time he appears on my TV I scream Adam Cole Bay! Bay!

Ricochet is one of the best high flyers in the world today, he is a phenomenal athlete and he will be a future WWE Champion. I really don’t mind who wins as both will be excellent champions, but only because he hasn’t done too much with the title and because I feel he could do more with it, I’m going to say Adam Cole retains due to nefarious tactics.
Winner – Adam Cole

Women’s Championship: Shayna Basler vs Kairi Sane

I honestly can’t see a title change in this match, Shayna Baszler has been on a dominant role since winning the NXT Women’s Championship and there’s no need for her to drop the title yet. Kairi Sane who won last year’s Mae Young Classic against Baszler.

In my opinion, Sane hasn’t fulfilled her potential and she hasn’t really got much momentum heading into this match. Sane earned a title shot after winning a triple threat which also featured Candice LeRae and Nikki Cross, but I feel Sane is just a stepping stone for Baszler, as the Queen of Aces heads into Evolution as your NXT Women’s Champion.
Winner – Shayna Baszler

NXT Championship: Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano

Last Man Standing

This was originally supposed to be a triple threat featuring Aleister Black, but unfortunately Black sustained a groin injury which required surgery, so now we’ll be seeing the third and potentially final match, in the Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa feud.

This is the toughest match on the card to predict as it’s 1-1 in their series, but it’s safe to say whatever the result is, it’ll be an incredible match. Ciampa has only been champion for a few weeks, and I believe Ciampa was going to win the triple threat. However, this is a new match and in the last few months Johnny Gargano hasn’t been the underdog hero that we all know, he has been ‘Johnny Badass’ and he will not stop until he gets his revenge on Tommaso Ciampa.

I have a bold theory that this won’t be their last match together, I can see Johnny Gargano just winning the NXT Title, but Tommaso Ciampa gets a rematch in a WarGames Match in November.
Winner – Johnny Gargano
