#TheWrestlingBrain: #NXT takes over #SmackDown (@callumowen98)

Hello it’s me TWB, and I’m here to give you my thoughts on what happened on Smackdown last night. Due to travel issues most of all the Smackdown roster were stuck in Saudi Arabia, or were in the air, so it meant that the show in Buffalo was going to have be shuffled around, with numerous pre announced segments and matches scrapped. However what we were treated with was arguably the best 2 hours of Smackdown TV in a very long time.

The first segment of night, saw the only Crown Jewel competitor on the show Brock Lesnar “quit” Smackdown and through Paul Heyman announce his intention to head to Raw, and continue his feud with Rey Mysterio. This was a fine segment, that does two things, it now gives Raw a main champion in Brock, and switches the Universal Championship to Smackdown for the first ever time. But it also allows Lesnar to feud with Mysterio, which is certainly something I’m looking forward to.

Following Brock’s exit, Triple H and Shawn Michaels were shown backstage, which would lead to the massive storyline that continued throughout the night, the first match of the night was Bayley Vs Nikki Cross for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, after Bayley retained, Shayna Baszler jumped the barricade and took out Bayley, Cross and Banks, this was a really solid start to the NXT invasion.

Sami Zayn would be next to face the wrath of the NXT roster, as he was quickly disposed off by Matt Riddle and Keith Lee, in another fun and enjoyable angle.

The Miz would then hold an interview segment with himself, it was supposed to be Bray Wyatt but obviously he was on a plane somewhere over the Atlantic, however The A-Lister was interrupted by Tommaso Ciampa, and they had a good match, which the former NXT Champion would win.

Daniel Bryan then confronted Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and challenged Adam Cole to an NXT Championship match, which is just something I’ve wanted forever.

My favourite NXT attack came when Bianca Belair, assaulted Dana Brooke and Carmella, in particular her Gorilla Press to Carmella where she threw her over some sort of wall, it reminded me a bit like the NWO attack on Rey Mysterio. Due to the Belair beatdown, Fire and Desire had no opponents, however they were quickly challenged by Tegan Nox and Rhea Ripley, who would quickly dispatch Rose and Deville.

Then the main event came and it was everything I ever wanted it to be, Bryan and Cole tore the house down, and it was the best match of the week, disagree with me vote on Twitter @sltdwrestling with your best of the week. Cole retained and then post match Triple H would celebrate with his invaders, and then cut a promo reminiscent of his Post Wrestlemania 14 one, and it was stunning.

This from the Paul Heyman promo to open the show, to NXT standing tall to close, was all must see TV, and despite WWE’s back being against the wall, they delivered one of the best Smackdown episodes ever. Last night WWE turned a negative into a positive, and the build to Survivor Series has begun with NXT firing the first shot.

This for me will be an episode that will go down in the history books, on Friday morning, we didn’t even know who would be on the show, and even during the show we had no clue what was going to happen next, and that’s when TV in particular wrestling is best, when it’s unpredictable, and I will remember that November 1st 2019 was the day when NXT took over

Anyway you can follow me @callumowen98 and @sltdwrestling on Twitter, vote in our best of the week poll and until NXT time I’m outta here
