Hello and welcome to The Wrestling Brain’s NXT Takeover Stand and Deliver predictions, for the first time in history we have a two night Takeover to talk about, so let’s not waste anymore time and get started
Night Two
Santos Escobar (C) Vs Jordan Devlin (C)
Ladder Match
Unified NXT Cruiserweight Championship
During night two of Stand and Deliver, we will see a ladder match to decide who is the true Cruiserweight Champion, as Santos Escobar takes on Jordan Devlin.
Before the pandemic last year, Jordan Devlin won the Cruiserweight Title, however he’d have return to the UK, and a tournament was held to crown a new champion, in which Escobar was victorious in, and has ever since held the title. I feel this match has been in the works since last summer, but due to travel restrictions it may have been delayed on a few occasions.
I feel Devlin will win, clearly there was something planned last year for him as Cruiserweight Champion before COVID, so now he’s in the US him having a proper reign makes sense.
Winner and technically still NXT Cruiserweight Champion – Jordan Devlin
Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart (C) Vs Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell
NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship Match
I’m not sold on the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships, I hated how they were introduced, and it seemed so unnecessary, then Dakota and Raquel losing them on their first night at champions to Moon and Blackheart almost instantly devalued the titles even more.
I wouldn’t be against LeRae and Hartwell winning but having 3 different tag champions in the space of a month, will be over the top.
That being said, I just can’t get behind Moon and Blackheart as a tag team, Ember should turn heel just to freshen things up, so with that in mind, I’m taking The Way for the win.
Winners and new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions – Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell
Johnny Gargano Vs Dexter Lumis – NXT North American Championship Match
Editors note: this was written before Night One of Stand and Deliver
So following a win in the Gauntlet match on night one, Dexter Lumis will take on Johnny Gargano, with Gargano’s North American Title on the line.
Gargano is doing some excellent work alongside Theory, LeRae and Hartwell, and has really developed well into the heel role.
I’m not entirely behind Lumis, I think the character perfectly suits him but I’m not sure whether it fits NXT, and him possibly becoming North American Champion doesn’t really intrigue me.
With that in mind I’m saying Johnny Wrestling retains, and his reign continues.
Winner and still NXT North American Champion – Johnny Gargano
Adam Cole Vs Kyle O’Reilly
Unsanctioned Match
This in my opinion should be the main event of Night 2, the Cole and O’Reilly storyline has got so much to be invested in, they have been best friends for over a decade and were part of a faction that dominated NXT for close to 4 years.
Adam Cole is once again heel, and whilst I was enjoying his work as a face, he plays the arrogant, cocky bad guy so much better.
Ever since he joined NXT, Kyle O’Reilly has been one of my favourites, I mean who doesn’t do the air guitar anytime you heard The Undisputed Era music, and I think he plays the never say die babyface perfectly.
This whole feud has reminded me a lot of Gargano/Ciampa, where you saw two best friends split up and then have an absolute tear of a match.
I think Kyle wins, he’s been on a bit of losing streak recently following defeats against Finn Balor, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Cole joins Raw or Smackdown post Wrestlemania. Assuming O’Reily wins I would love to see him Vs Gargano over the North American Championship in the future.
Winner – Kyle O’Reilly
Finn Balor (C) Vs Karrion Kross
NXT Championship Match
It’s time for our main event, as NXT Champion Finn Balor defends his title against Karrion Kross, now I’ll be brutally honest out of every main match over the two night Takeover, this is the one I’m actually least looking forward to, I really like Finn but this reign has come no way close to the one in 2015.
As for Karrion Kross, I feel he’s in a similar position as Dexter Lumis, where his character isn’t suited for NXT, so it might benefit his career by going to Raw or Smackdown.
With NXT heading to Tuesday nights, I feel like they will want a big star to front that show, and that big star is “The Prince” Finn Balor, so he should give Kross his first defeat since debuting on the roster over a year ago.
Winner and still NXT Champion – Finn Balor
