#TheWrestlingBrains: #RoyalRumble Predictions (@callumowen98) #SLTDRumbleWeek

Hello everyone it’s me TWB, and I’m here to talk about my favourite PPV of the year the Royal Rumble which takes place in Houston, Texas.

Much like previous predictions articles I’ll give you my quick picks for the lower card bouts, then for the marquee matches (Fiend Vs Daniel Bryan, Lynch Vs Asuka and both Rumble matches, I’ll give you more of a rundown of what I think will happen, so let’s get ready to Rumble!

Andrade Vs Humberto Carillo – United States Championship:
Winner (and still champion) – Andrade

– Sheamus Vs Shorty G:
Winner – Sheamus

– Bayley Vs Lacey Evans – Smackdown Women’s Championship:
Winner (and still champion) – Bayley

– Roman Reigns Vs King Corbin – Falls Count Anywhere:
Winner – Roman Reigns

– New Day Vs Miz and Morrison – Smackdown Tag Team Championship: (as of writing 21st January not announced but expect it to be confirmed on Smackdown)
Winners and new champions – Miz and Morrison

Becky Lynch Vs Asuka – Raw Women’s Championship

This match has a really good build to it and besides both Rumble matches it’s the one I’m most looking forward to watching on Sunday night. Asuka and Lynch have great chemistry and always deliver in ring, who can forget at last year’s Rumble, Asuka retained her Smackdown Women’s Title against Lynch in a hot opener, hours before Becky won the Women’s Rumble Match. This whole feud has been mainly down to Becky wanting to face and beat Asuka for the first time ever, and prove that she is a dominant champion.

Since her heel turn alongside partner Kairi Sane, Asuka has a new lease of life and is thriving in the role, both her and Kairi are the current Women’s Tag Team Champions, and they’ve been booked strongly and Asuka is being made to look like a credible threat to Lynch’s reign which has now lasted close to 10 months.

I believe Lynch will retain, she has been the best female wrestler in my opinion for the last 18 months, and she’s one of WWE’s top stars male or female and she’ll have a big role at Wrestlemania.

Winner and still champion – Becky Lynch

The Fiend Bray Wyatt Vs Daniel Bryan – WWE Universal Championship

Daniel Bryan is currently my favourite wrestler in the world, and it’s extremely difficult not to go with my heart on this one and pick Daniel Bryan.

The Fiend has been the best character in WWE in the last few years, the promo’s Bray Wyatt has been cutting are always on point and every segment he’s in is must see. However some of his matches have felt lackluster, the one’s against Seth Rollins stick out as potentially the worst matches in WWE in a while, and I wonder whether that even if his character is great does he need the Universal Championship.

This will be a strap match, which means that the only realistic way you can win is by touching all 4 corners with the strap without stopping, although it could also end in pinfall.

Personally I’m leaning towards a Bryan win here, as great as Wyatt has been, there’s just no need for him to be Universal Champion, especially if his matches are devalued by using red lighting and ultimately have unsatisfying finishes, have Bryan become Universal Champion for the first time ever and have Bryan in a marquee title match at Wrestlemania.

Winner and new champion – Daniel Bryan

Women’s Royal Rumble

This will be the 3rd annual Rumble Match for the Women in WWE, the first saw Asuka win, and the debut of Ronda Rousey, and last year saw the fan favourite Becky Lynch pointing at the Wrestlemania sign, I wonder what this year’s will provide.

I think there are two realistic candidates for the Rumble win and that’s either Shayna Baszler or the aforementioned Ronda Rousey. Rousey has been off TV for 9 months since dropping the title to Becky at Wrestlemania, and I hope at some point we’ll get our Ronda Vs Lynch singles match that we never got, and who knows if Rousey returns on Sunday night we’d be that one step closer.

Shayna Baszler lost her NXT Women’s Championship last month, and since then rumours speculated that she was going to be an entrant in the Rumble Match and likely go all the way. At November’s Survivor Series PPV, Baszler defeated Lynch and Bayley in a triple threat match, however, post match, ‘The Queen of Spades’ would be laid out by ‘The Man’, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Baszler appeared on Sunday night, won the Rumble and then went onto face Becky at Wrestlemania, and that’s the route I’m going for.

Winner – Shayna Baszler

Men’s Royal Rumble

This is in my opinion the toughest Rumble Match to predict in a very long time, there feels there’s a list of up to 8 names that could feasibly win. Those names include Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Cain Velasquez, Edge, John Cena or my pick CM Punk.

I’ve written an article on why I think CM Punk will win the Royal Rumble, and basically I believe that Punk will be back inside a wrestling ring at somepoint in 2020, and him coming back as a surprise entrant at no 30 would be unbelievable and something that’ll be forever remembered and get the road to Wrestlemania off to a hot start.

Imagine Brock Lesnar who’d by now had survived 28 other competitiors eliminating the likes of Drew, Roman, Strowman, Owens and Joe, waiting by himself for number 30 to come out, and then as the clock strikes 0, Cult of Personality plays and out walks CM Punk, everyone inside the Minute Maid Park and around the world will erupt. Punk and Lesnar will go toe to toe, and eventually Brock will eat a GTS and be eliminated.

Punk can then point to the Wrestlemania sign, and we have the main event set for April 5th in Tampa, Florida, CM Punk Vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Winner – CM Punk
