Tonight Smackdown makes it’s highly anticipated debut on Fox. This show has been promoted heavily for the last few weeks, and it’ll feature Brock Lesnar’s first TV match in over 15 years as he takes on WWE Champion Kofi Kingston in the main event. Also match wise on this card we’ll see a loser leaves WWE ladder bout between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon, Roman Reigns Vs Rowan and a tag team match between Sasha Banks and Bayley Vs Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
As this is a special episode we also have legends appearing, with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Sting, Kurt Angle and The Rock all set to appear.
In this article The Wrestling Brains (@callumowen98 and @xterblack) will predict the four currently announced matches, and then have a wildcard wish, where we’ll both have a dream selection for something to happen on tonight’s show.

Sasha Banks and Bayley Vs Becky Lynch and Charlotte
CO – This will be the last time Becky and Sasha will face-off against each other, before their Hell In A Cell match on Sunday night. After Raw when Sasha fleed from Lynch, it seems the face team will have the advantage, however I think it’s really important that the former Tag Team Champions get the victory on this debut episode. Banks and Bayley both recently turned heel, and they need all the momentum they can get so a victory over Lynch and Charlotte is what should happen this Friday night. Winners – Sasha Banks and Bayley
XB – In the old school mentality of ‘those-that-win-at-PPVs-lose-on-the-go-home-show’ I think Lynch & Charlotte will get the win here with Lynch making Bayley tap out so that the respective opponents don’t go into Sunday with one having a win over the other but instead having the heels on the back foot. Winners – Charlotte & Becky Lynch
Roman Reigns Vs Erick Rowan
CO – So this match should finish in a no contest, where neither man wins, simply it has to end with Harper jumping into the ring to attack Roman, but Daniel Bryan makes the save, however there needs to be a miscommunication between Reigns and Bryan, where Bryan ends up getting speared by Roman.
Whatever really happens on Friday, Bryan and Reigns need to show some cracks in their partnership before their tag match against Harper and Rowan this Sunday at Hell In A Cell. Result – No contest
XB – I’m with Callum in assuming/expecting this one to end up leading to a tag match between Harper/Rowan and Bryan/Reigns at Hell In A Cell. How the match will go? I doubt it’ll even start. I think Bryan will emerge from the crowd, kendo stick in hand and beat the living hell out of both former Wyatt Family members thus leading the powers that be making the No DQ Tag Match official for Sunday.
Kevin Owens Vs Shane McMahon – Loser leaves WWE Ladder Match
CO – This match will finally mark the end of this Shane McMahon heel run that’s lasted for 7 months. Ever since becoming the Best In The World at last year’s Crown Jewel, Shane has been a regular on TV, and his popularity has gone downhill ever since. Kevin Owens is now a babyface, and he’s wanting to end the tyrannical reign of McMahon.
If Fox want Smackdown to be more sports based then an on screen authority figure who’s involved in storylines is not needed, and thus Shane McMahon must lose on Friday night, and take a long hiatus from TV. Kevin Owens wins and possibly moves into a WWE Title feud or an Intercontinental Championship hunt against Nakamura and his former best friend Sami Zayn. Winner – Kevin Owens
XB – Surely this is the time to put the whole Shane McMahon saga to bed. Either Shane wins and Owens goes to NXT or Owens wins and Shane is gone for good. Or at least until he’s revealed to be Raw General Manager next week. Winner – Kevin Owens
Brock Lesnar Vs Kofi Kingston (C) – WWE Championship Match
CO – I think this match will mark the end of Kofi Kingston title run, and personally it should go very similar to John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar from Summerslam 2014, where Kofi gets completely squashed by Brock. Kofi has had a enjoyable reign but with Smackdown moving to Fox, they need a big name as WWE Champion, and that ought to be Lesnar (I’m still not his biggest fan). And Brock needs a big first challenger, so leads me to my wildcard wish. Winner and new champion – Brock Lesnar
XB – For some reason, I can’t shake the idea that Lesnar attacking Rey Mysterio on Raw was ‘random’ – Off all the people for Lesnar to attack, to show him as an unstoppable beast & legitimate threat (yet again), why would you pick a guy with such a profile only for their to be zero repurcussions too it? My feeling is that we’re going to get Lesnar Vs. Mysterio at Survivor Series or possibly even Wrestlemania dependent on current plans etc. so for this one I can see Brock winning by DQ after Rey appears to get revenge for Monday. Kofi retains. Winner (By DQ) – Brock Lesnar – Still WWE Champion – Kofi Kingston
Wildcard Wish
CO – So this is a real dream scenario, and I doubt it happens, but I’m putting my fantasy bookers hat on. As Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman celebrate following a successful a WWE Title win, fireworks go off, and it seems the show is going off the air, then all of the sudden CM Punk music hits, and everyone inside the Staples Center erupts. Punk will walk down to the ring, and Heyman’s face will look like a ghost. Punk sticks his hand out to Brock for the handshake, but then hits the GTS onto the champion, he then picks up the WWE Championship and raises it in the air, as Smackdown on Fox ends with arguably the most shocking ending possible.
XB – My wildcard wish for Smackdown is for Edge to be announced as Smackdown General Manager. With the draft incoming, and referring back to my Shane McMahon prediction, I think both Raw & Smackdown will need and receive authority figures and I sincerely hope that the reason why Edge has ‘retired’ from his podcast with Christian is because he’s about to start running the blue brand.
So those are our predictions for tonight’s Smackdown premiere on Fox, @callumowen98 will be staying up to watch the show live so follow him on Twitter, and if CM Punk returns you’ll hear him scream in excitement
