TNA: The New Kids on the Block

Over the last couple of weeks there have been some new faces in the ring in TNA. I’ve mentioned them briefly before, but I thought I’d go into a little more detail this week. My main assumption is that instead of a second series of British Bootcamp, they brought some European talent on to the live tour instead. Another gamble from the TNA camp, but one that ultimately seems to be paying off.

Alpha Female has appeared for TNA a couple of times now, but I think they need to showcase her a little more for the US fans who might not know a lot about her. She’d be a perfect fit to go up against Lei’d Tapa. They’re both very tall and powerful females, and they could have a great feud. The only question is whether the American market would want to see it.

I also talked about Shanna last week and I’ve got to say that I’ve never seen my Twitter explode with support for a wrestler like it did for her after her match against Gail Kim on Explosion. It was a very good match, but did it give her enough of a platform to impress the people behind the scenes? We’ll have to see what happens, but if Twitter had anything to do with it, then she’d get a spot on the roster for sure.

The Wolves have finally been showcased in the ring lately too. After having them sit back for a few weeks and survey the talent, I have to say that they hype they were given leading up to their in-ring debut was well-earned. That being said, I was left feeling a little uncomfortable after last week’s match against Bad Influence. They got some amazing spots and awesome double-team moves.

I felt a little awkward watching their chest stomps off the top rope because they looked messy, and dangerous. I’m sure they’ve done them numerous times before and they’ve looked better. Could it just have been an off-day? I’m not sure because I’ve seen these very talented guys wrestle before. The move itself really isn’t the issue for me. Sonjay Dutt does it too, but his looks a lot safer. Like I said, it could’ve just been an off-day and hopefully, it’ll look better in the future.

The last person I’ll be talking about this week is Ethan Carter III, or EC3. His character is great and the fact that he’s struggling to come to terms with his Aunt D’s support for Magnus instead of him makes interesting viewing.

With LockDown almost upon us and the split in TNA coming, will EC3 make the move to MVP’s team? I’d like to think so, taking out Magnus in the process, but I still don’t see it happening. They’re hinting at it and so far, the guys behind the scenes seem to be doing everything right, so will they split the Carter family and how interesting could that be? Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but I know what I’d like to see for sheer entertainment value.

I have seen rumours that there are still more new faces to come, so let’s wait and see who the next new faces are, if any, and how well they gel with the current roster. In any case, it all looks good for now.
