Welcome one and all, I am Tybo! and by now you should know that I am the ‘Five Star General’ of this operation we call SLTD Wrestling.
I really enjoyed writing last weeks Tybo Talks… Top 5 TNA Stars to NXT, and since then (and as of writing this) two of the five stars I talked about have left TNA so maybe I seen the future.
Ok, so down to business as I enjoyed last weeks Top 5, I’m doing another one, this may become a regular thing if they are received well so let me know what you think below or on my twitter.
Below are the Ring Of Honor wrestlers who I think would do well in NXT and eventually WWE. Unlike last weeks Top 5, these are in no particular order, but if I had to have a number one pick to jump ship to WWE it would be reDRagon.
Jay Lethal
Lethal is rare breed of wrestler, he is an absolutely amazing gimmick worker which I think these are very hard to find. If you are unsure of what I mean check out his work in TNA as Black Machismo. The thing that stands out about Lethal is that he is solid all round in and out of the ring. He can be the high flyer, he can be the grappler, he can be the face, the heel, the mid-card or the main event. He is in my opinion one of the most under appreciated wrestlers in the business. Personally, I think WWE should of snapped him up as soon as they could when he was released by TNA.
Easily one of my favourite moments in TNA has to be when Lethal (as Ric Flair) is cutting a promo on Ric Flair who is in the ring, if you have not seen it or you are not a TNA fan I advise you to check it out on YouTube. If you are not entertained I will personally buy you a beer!
As of right now Lethal is the ROH world champion, so I can’t see him going anywhere any time soon. But I think he would be a great assest in any gimmick that WWE gave him. WWE current have Sandow and Axel working Mega Powers gimmicks, bring him in as the same thing for Flair, the crowd will love it. Shit, could even have Sandow vs Lethal in a Macho man vs Black Machismo match!
Micheal Bennett (with Maria)
Bennett with Maria and the Kingdom is maybe one of the best heels in ROH and has been for a long time! Bennett reminds me a lot of Edge in his Rated R days, he is a heel but you can’t help but like him. He is that heel that if you was a wrestler you would want to be a heel like him. Maybe, I think of Edge because Bennett and Marie have the same sore of relationship as Edge did with Lita, but honestly that’s only a complement from me. I seem to say this on every other blog I write, but the heel wrestler with the hot valet is a forgotten gimmick. I think if Bennett went to NXT with this gimmick he would go far. NXT could even bring in Cole and have a NXT version of The Kingdom. Its a long shot as ideas go but it would be interesting to see. I think given the right platform, and time Michael Bennett with Maria could take that gimmick to the heights Edge and Lita did.
Christopher Daniels
Daniels honestly needs no introduction, he is one of the four main corner stones of TNA’s early success, and rightly so. Although Daniels is a little older that the rest of the guys on this list that has not slowed him down. There is a reason Steve Careno calls him the ‘man that doesn’t age’. Daniels is in his mid-forties now and I think he still has a good few years in him. If you’re thinking NXT is for young upcoming, hungry talent? Well, two out of three isn’t bad when talking about Chris. He is a great talent and looks like he still had the hunger for the business he had when I was watching him in the X-Division 10 years ago. Daniels could even step into a Rhyno style position. He adds an aspect of legitimacy for me, with him being in every different wrestling company. And I think Daniel’s could do the same. Saying that I honestly think that he could be a main player in the company for a good few years but I really don’t think that will happen, as WWE very rarely do that with older talent.
Kaz
Frankie Kazerian, is one of those wrestlers who has all the talent and skills to make it big, but is missing something that just holds him back. Honestly I can’t put my finger on what it is but it is that ‘something’ that makes all the greats great. That being said Kaz is a work horse, he can get in the ring with anyone and make them look good. He can work many different styles of match, and he is not scared of the top rope.
Honestly, I think the main way Kaz would thrive in NXT/WWE is if they brought in Kaz and Daniels as a Tag Team. They are currently The Addiction in ROH and they were Bad Influence in TNA. Daniels and Kaz have been tagging together on and off for their whole TNA career, but they have been an exclusive tag team since 2012. In the world of wrestling that’s a pretty long time to be tagging with someone. I think NXT could bring them both into the company and it could really add an legitimacy to the already growing and thriving Tag Team division in NXT.
Jay Briscoe
When I think of Ring of Honor I always think of The Briscoe’s mainly Jay Briscoe, he is a multi time World Heavyweight Champion in the company and up until recently he had not been pinned or submitted for over two years. Briscoe is a raw talent, who given the right direction and the right opportunity could go so far. He is a main stay in ROH so I would be shocked if he would ever go anywhere, but the thought of WWE bringing him in and then the possibility of having Mark Briscoe being brought in later to have two great singles talent and amazing Tag Team talent would be great for the WWE. I am aware that there was rumors of talks with The Briscoe’s and the WWE earlier in the year and they fell down due to the offer not being workable for The Briscoe’s but that does not mean somewhere down the line could not be worked to get at least Jay in NXT as I think he is the stand out talent between the two brothers.
reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Riley)
ReDRagon may be the best tag team in the world today! And if not they have to be in the top 5. In fact I would say that ROH probably has the best tag team wresting in the world today. With teams like reDRagon, Young Bucks, The Briscoe’s, The Kingdom, The Addiction. These teams are unmatched by TNA and NXT/WWE. Any one one of these teams would light up the tag team division in NXT, but I don’t think anyone more than Kyle O’Riley and Bobby Fish. Now don’t get me wrong as single wrestlers Fish and O’Riley are great too but as a tag team they are phenomenal. If you don’t believe me or you have not seen their work in the ring YouTube the matches between reDRagon and The Young Buck. I would go so far as to say that the match at ROH’s Best in the World is the best tag match I have ever seen. reDRagon have their gimmick down to a tea, they are great on the mic together and their double team moves are innovative and always crisp. Not to mention reDRagon already have their own version of The Cutting Edge, The Peep Show and MizTV in “The Fish Tank”. These two guys are an asset to any company but they would thrive in the world of NXT.
So there you have it my Top 5 Ring Of Honor stars who I think could make it big in NXT and WWE.
Do you agree? Who would be your Top 5? Let me know below.
Thanks for reading this weeks Tybo Talks, and I will hopefully catch you again next week.
