Tybo Talks… Top 5 TNA to NXT

Welcome one and all, I am Tybo! and by now you should know that i am the ‘Five Star General’ of this operation we call SLTD Wrestling.

Now, on to business. I’m sitting here watching TNA Impact, which is aired on Sunday in the UK which I have just realised is now over a week old since TNA have now moved to Wednesday’s on Destination America.

Anyway, if you watch Impact you will be aware of the ‘Impact Top 5’ This is the top 5 wrestlers who are in line for a shot at the TNA World Title. These 5 guys can move up and down the ranking at any time, and anyone can jump in if they (excuse the pun) make an impact.

So this got me thinking. Hypothetically, if TNA was to go out of business (and I really hope it doesn’t as there will be a lot of guys out of work and to be honest I am a fan of TNA) who would be the ‘Impact top 5’ who could shine in NXT and potentially head to the main WWE roster?

You don’t have to wonder for long my Top 5 are below.

5. James Storm

James Storm is the closest you are going to find to a TNA original on the Impact roster. Storm has been there for a long time and is whether you like it or not a Tag Team specialist. Personally, I think Storm is awesome. I think he works with what he is given and does what he can to make it as good as possible. I will say at the minute, this ‘Revolution’ storyline is not great! He seems to have been thrown the most random group of guys and is trying to make a bad situation good.

If he was to go to NXT, I honestly think he could successfully work his Cowboy gimmick, the gimmick seems to be very true to life. As I said earlier he is a Tag Team specialist, and always seems to work well in a group. so maybe work towards that. Could he get over enough to make it to the main roster? I’m not sure, but he would bring a large fan base and enough buzz with him to make him arriving  in NXT a big thing.

4. Ethan Carter III (EC3)

OK, so first thing’s first. I am fully aware that EC3 was Derrick Bateman in the original storyline episodes of NXT, after the game show style NXT but before it became the NXT it is now. Confusing! Talking of that NXT anyone remember how cool Johnny Curtis was before he was given the terrible Fandango gimmick? Bring that guy back!

EC3 has shown that given the right gimmick and a chance to shine, and show your potential that an after thought in one company can be a star in another. Personally, I am a huge fan of EC3 I think he has everything you need to make it big in wrestling. He is great in the ring and he is solid on the mic. He has made the Ethan Carter gimmick his own, I really thought it would end badly with him being ‘related’ to Dixie Carter but he had out shined that part of the gimmick and is without a doubt TNA’s next World Heavyweight Champion.

Do I think if he went to NXT he would make it big? Absolutely! I don’t think he should go in as Bateman, I think it would be awesome if he worked his ‘1%er’ gimmick he could be a huge heel in NXT and in WWE. The ‘privileged’ gimmick is a proven heel gimmick and done right (which I think EC3 could do) it has longevity in it.

3. Eric Young

Eric Young is the most intense wrestler on the Impact roster right now! I send this tweet out pretty much every week. I think Young has shown he can be can be pretty much anyone on the roster, the sympathetic figure, the crazy guy, the crazy heel. He was even the Knockouts Tag Team Champion! Young is great in the ring and great on the mic, he can draw money on any part of a show, even as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Eric Young could easily work a gimmick that WWE wanted to give him. He has shown this in numerous occasions. I think if he was given the time to develop a solid gimmick he could be great for NXT. Do I think he could be the crazed maniac he is working now in NXT? Yes, I think it would need some tweaks here and there but over time Young could be a top heel in NXT as with that gimmick he could work with anyone.

2. Austin Aries

Outside of Kurt Angle I think Aries is possibly the best wrestler in the Impact roster. The ‘creator of option C’ is amazing in the ring, for a smaller guy he can hold his own against any big man. He can be the high flyer and he can grapple with anyone who has stepped in the ring. Aries mic skills are as solid as ever and he is a great heel and a greater face.

As for a gimmick in NXT, I’m not sure if he needs a ‘gimmick’ what he is working now is great, he is a heel one week and a face the next. This to me shows that if nothing else Aries is just straight up over with the TNA fans. Not to mention he is  loved in the Indy scene so if he was to go to NXT he would carry the buzz of a Joe or an Owens signing.

I also want to mention, that Aries and Roode are working as ‘Dirty Heels’ at the minute, i think together Aries and Roode could dominate the NXT and WWE Tag Team division.

1. Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode was hands down the best thing in wrestling when he was the TNA World Champion. Roode made TNA wrestling must watch TV, and personally I think that is when TNA hit its peek and has not seen heights since! The night Roode became TNA World Champion, when he double crossed his long time ‘Beer Money’ partner James Storm should of been the one of the best moments in wrestling that year. The only downfall was on TNA’s part that at the time Impact was taped, so everyone knew what happened before it was on TV. This to me was a huge shame, but didn’t stop the awesome momentum that Roode built throughout his time as the longest reigning TNA World Champ in history.

Personally, I think Roode never has a bad match and is wasted in a TNA ring. I don’t mean that as a dig to TNA but he deserves more people to see what he can do. Basically, Roode deserves a Wrestlemania moment. He is great as a heel, as I said maybe the best in the business at one point. He was carrying TNA for a long time as the Champion and I don’t think they have had any better years as they did when he was on top. You could put Roode with WWE’s best, and Roode would come out shining.

So there you have it my Top 5 TNA stars who I think could make it big in NXT and WWE.

Do you agree? Who would be your Top 5? Let me know below.

Thanks for reading this weeks Tybo Talks, and I will hopefully catch you again next week.
