Hey everyone and welcome to the latest Wrestle Chica! As you know by now am Rach and I am the first lady of SLTD Wrestling!
Now I know most people after reading the title of this are going to think “Yes he does!” and say that with a lot of certainty but every time I see Cena wrestle I always think he doesn’t deserve the amount of hate or abuse that he gets week in and week out. I get that a lot of you are sick of the gimmick he has and has had for years now and that a lot of you may be bored of the amount of time and effort that WWE and Vince have put into him, but if you look at him as a whole package everything about him works. He is a guy that you need in a company like WWE and I don’t think that you would find a more hardworking and dedicated person than he is.
First of all let start with the whole “You can’t wrestle chant” now we all know this is just something that is said for the sake of saying something in the crowd as this just isn’t true. A lot of people when talking about Cena always make reference to his “5 moves of doom” however recently we have seen a lot more from him and he has been a lot more diverse in what he has been doing. The match he had with Owens was fantastic and I think a lot of this was to do with Cena as when he is in the ring he wants it to be the best it can be and will put that time and effort in to get that. Whenever someone speaks about Cena they always have to reference how he isn’t as good as say Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Triple H, The Rock and whoever else you want to throw into that list. You look at some of their most memorable matches they involve Cena. Yet people tend to forget that a match takes 2 people to make memorable and Cena is left to get the hate and the you can’t wrestle chants.
Second Cena is fully invested into the company. There is no one who is on the main roster today that will do as much for the company, regardless of what that is, like Cena does. He will always do what ever is necessary for the WWE to take them in the direction that they want to be in no matter what that is. You look at his 2011 match against CM Punk in the Money in the Bank PPV. To do what he did and not only that but to do it in Chicago, no one else is that committed to the company that they would do that. Coming out to a crowd full of boos not even the small little faint cheer could be heard everyone hated him that night. Cena knew that this was were WWE wanted to go and he went along and he had, in my opinion a fantastic match. In all honesty it was that good he got the crowd back on his side to not only start chanting “This is Awesome” but to also start cheering him! Do you know any other wrestler who is capable of that? Especially in his opponents home town! You could also look at his match with Lesnar when he lost the title. He had one of the most one sided matches in WWE history and took the beating of a life time to make sure Lesnar looked as strong as he needed to. They didn’t even do that with Reigns for WrestleMania.
Thirdly his gimmick. Now I know everyone HATES his “Never Give Up” gimmick and I don’t know many people who would actually say they liked his t-shirts (saying that I love them and was made up to get one for my birthday, much to Tybo’s upset at the brightness of it. This makes me love it even more! Thanks girls!) but if you look at him as a whole package he is the perfect person to have as the face of your company. First of all kids love him, he is basically made to have kids love him and want to be him. Which in my opinion is not a bad thing as you have a fantastic role model for kids and someone worthy of being a role model. Which in a world of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus that is definitely not a bad thing (that’s going slightly off track though sorry). His “Never Give Up” slogan is fantastic not only to people who are trying to live their dreams but for everyone who is fighting something. Whether that is battling a disease or getting over something that has happened it gives people that push of determination to keep on going even when they thought they had hit rock bottom. This does so much more for a person than just having someone as a role model it helps them with a new lease of life which again you don’t get that from many other people out there. Then you have his “Hustle Loyalty Respect” slogan which is Cena to a T as you wouldn’t find anyone else you demonstrates that on a daily basis to the WWE. He works his ass off with anything that he is asked to do, he has complete loyalty to the WWE and he respects everyone he deserves it.
Fourthly this is the really girly one! He is genuinely a nice guy! For anyone who has watched Total Divas they will know exactly what I mean. I don’t actually think there is a bad bone in his body and you put him with someone, lets say the new Divas champ Nikki, who to say the least can be your classic bitchy girl. He actually makes her a better person just by being the person that he is which speaks volumes for his personality. This is more than likely why a lot of people get wound up by him. He is this nice person who rarely swears but he also knows his audience and what his air time will be used for which is why we don’t get the smart arse remarks that you get over others but you get more passion from him. Think of it this way if you knew millions of kids were watching you and learning from you would you use that kind of language and risk them copying?
Fifthly look at what he has done with the United States Championship. He has took that title to a whole new level and has made it something that it hasn’t been in a long time. Coming out each week and holding an open challenge for anyone to compete for the title was a fantastic move. It has given people who would never have been given that chance normally an opportunity for us to see what they are capable of. This has also led to a great story line starting between Cesero and Rusev which we wouldn’t have got without this. Cena has got more people talking about the title than ever before and that’s all due to the work that he puts in.
Finally his work, and probably his most important, outside of the WWE. In particular am talking about his work for the Make a Wish foundation. This to me shows that he doesn’t deserve any of the hate that he gets as the work he does with these kids, who when asked what they want to do with their one wish they choose to meet him. This to me speaks more volumes than anything else that someone could write. As most of you already know Cena is not only the most requested sports person anymore but he is actually the most requested person ever for these kids to meet. Cena works closely with this charity and does what he can to make these kids dreams come true. I remember hearing about an interview that he done where he was asked about the charity an the amount of wishes he had granted. His response to granting the most wishes was, if you knew a child who was terminally ill chose to use their one wish on meeting you how could you say no to that! This shows you the person he is shows you what is important to him and what he does not only for the WWE but the community in whatever state he is in.
So there you have it, does John Cena deserve all the hate that he gets? No he doesn’t this guy does more for the WWE and the company than any other. The final thing I have to say about Cena though is even though he doesn’t deserve the hate he gets he understands that there has to be a guy to hate and he probably understands this more than anyone and he steps up to the plate and takes the “boos” the “Cena sucks” and the “you can’t wrestle” chants yet he still goes out there does what he needs to do, works brilliantly with the people he is against to make sure that they have fantastic matches then leaves to do it all again at the next show with his head held high!
And that’s it guys! Thanks for reading and hopefully I have given you a new found respect for Cena and everything that he does so the next time you’re watching you may be more inclined to get involved in the “Lets go Cena” side! Let me know what you think in the comments! Thanks again for reading guys see you next week!
