Hey everyone and welcome to another Wrestle Chica! Hopefully you all know by know that my name is Rach and I am the first lady of SLTD Wrestling!
There is only one thing at the minute which annoys me more than the United States Championship (You can read my thoughts on that here) and that is Charlotte as the Women’s Champion. I only briefly saw some matches with Charlotte while she was in NXT so when she was called up to the main roster I honestly had no opinion on her and was waiting with an open mind to see where they would go with all the new recruits in the Women’s division.
Now from what I did see I know that she was a good champion and that she could more than handle herself in the ring, she is Flairs daughter after all, however they never really played on that fact, yes it was mentioned when she was in the ring but that was it really just a mention. Fast forward about a year and now she can’t seem to do anything without her Daddy holding her hand and personally I think they have taken her carer back a good few steps rather than pushing her forward.
From what I know of her in NXT she was great, she had great matches could handle a mic and was part of the four horse women which changed the face of women’s wrestling which is why she was brought up to be part of the “Divas Revolution” and I thought that this was going to bring something new and different to what we were so used to seeing but personally I feel like we have gone back to what the Women’s division use to be, using dirty tactics to win matches and not being able to win on her own.
I understand why that have Flair with her, I mean if you could get him on TV every single week why not do it and again I understand that he is known as the dirtiest player in the game but why have Charlotte going the same way? And if you wanted to go that way why is it that it is always her dad coming to her rescue rather than her thinking up these ways to win and using her own dirty tactics? I can’t remember the last time you saw Charlotte without Flair on TV and it’s becoming a massive frustration of mine as it is a massive waste of talent and a huge step backwards for her as now I just see her as Flair’s daughter and not a legitimate wrestler like she was in NXT.
Tonight we have Extreme Rules which will see Charlotte facing Natalya in a submissions match and drum roll please, FLAIR IS BANNED FROM RING SIDE!! All I can say is, about time! I have never loved Steph more for making that decisions! Unfortunately, I am not that naïve and know that in some way shape or form Flair will do something to make sure Charlotte retains the title although the added twist of “she will forfeit the title if he does come down to the ring” is a fantastic added bonus but we all know he will arrange something with someone to make sure she wins but all I want to know is Why? Why always have him playing dirty to make sure she wins, why not let Charlotte retain by herself and prove that she is more than just Flair’s daughter. She could use any tactic she wants, be the bad guy do whatever but why always have her getting saved by Daddy!
This whole story line reminds me so much of what New Day were doing for so long and it has just been over used and is so outdated! It feels like WWE look at something and actually say “Oh the viewers liked that the first time we done it so we must do this again and again” What’s happened to variety? Keeping people on their toes? It feels like Charlotte worked so hard on her career and has be pushed back right to the beginning. It’s like she needs her Dad to make her a wrestler which she doesn’t, she done it for so long during her time on NXT so why not let her continue to do that?
When the title was changed at Wrestlemania I honestly thought we would have a new champion and I don’t think Charlotte was the right person to be the first Women’s Champion and thought Sasha Banks would have been a better person to be the first face of this but yet again just when you thought this would happen Flair has to step in yet again to make sure his daughter wins.
The rivalry with Nattie has been fantastic and it has been great to see so many good matches between these two and honestly it’s been great to see Nattie getting the push she rightly deserves. Nattie is fantastic in the ring and the chemistry between her and Charlotte has been great but the whole Flair thing is ruining it for me. Have the Women’s Championship contract signing as the main event on RAW was awesome and shows that WWE are serious about everyone being a superstar and that the Women’s Championship is just as coveted as the World Heavy Weight Championship but for me if they want this to last and to legitimise the Women’s division then Charlotte needs to stand on her own two feet and leave Flair behind. It’s like they are doing a damsel in distress and Charlotte is anything but a damsel so it’s time she showed us this and become the champion we know she can be and one worthy of being the first ever Women’s Champion.
