Wrestle Chica – The Wyatt Family

Hey everyone and welcome to the latest Wrestle Chica. As you hopefully know by now my name is Rach and I am the first lady of SLTD Wrestling.

After Hell in a Cell ended I was a little disappointed as yet again we have seen a random attack by the Wyatt family. We then saw them again attacking Kane and as Wyatt put it “taking control of evil”. I have always been confused by the Wyatt family and have never really understood the way they pick their targets and why the rivalries they have start. I always feel like they are forgotten about and it always comes across a little like, just have them do this and not really thought out.

I remember when I first saw the Wyatt family I thought that they were something different and that we could really see something special from them. They have that craziness feel to them were they bring a little bit of fear to you like Kane and The Undertaker. You get that they would actually do anything to get what they want and you never really know what they are going to do next. For me the WWE have really missed something here with Wyatt as he has to be one of the best they have in the ring and he is always forgotten about.

Lets take a look back. Like I said before when I first saw them I hadn’t seen anything like that and in all honesty they made me feel a little uneasy and gave me that chill that I still get when the Undertaker is on the screen. Bray is sensational at cutting a promo and I don’t think he has ever broke character which just shows how dedicated he is to what he is doing. They had some fantastic matches but after a while it did go a little sour and even though the crowd loves there entrance I don’t think they were all over as much as the WWE thought.

Late last year we saw Bray “release” Harper and Rowan and I honestly thought that this was the beginning of some great things for Bray. We then saw Harper join Team Authority and Rowan join Team Cena but nothing really big happened for Bray. We saw him have matches but they weren’t what I was thinking. My thoughts were that as soon as he “released” the family we would be able to see him go after a title and be in the main picture but this never happened. When they had the vacant IC title I was shocked that Bray wasn’t in the ladder match for this. This is what I mean where he gets forgotten about. Now I know he had a match with the Undertaker which is a fantastic match to have at a WrestleMania but to me he deserves so much more and should be in title shots which we never see him in.

Harper and Rowan seemed to do a lot when they weren’t with Bray. We saw Harper become the Intercontinental Champion which I was shocked at and in all honesty had actually forgotten about. Harper became another of the Authorities henchmen and wrestled in the usual beat down matches. Rowan wasn’t so lucky and even though we saw a lot more of him it was to see him unfortunately lose a lot. Rowan had a small rivalry with The Big Show and had the usual tag team matches that we are so use to seeing. This saw him paired up with Ryback and Ziggler a lot but again this was just to see him lose in more ways. It was clear that these two being opposites was not working and in all honesty I did like Rowan on his own as a face but he does work a lot better as a heel. This meant that we then got a new tag team and personally I think this worked and worked well. We got to see something different in the tag team division. Yes there are heel tag teams but none, in my opinion, as “crazy” as these two. They bring that demon feel to their matches when you are not quite sure of what they are going to do next. For some reason though this wasn’t working with the audience so what to do next with them?

Now enter Braun Strowman and the family being back together. This for me is a huge step back for what they were trying to do and it seems its a little like Bray Wyatt gets punished for his family not being able to get over enough as they only seemed to work as a threesome. Is this the case though? Are we seeing something that the WWE aren’t? When they had Bray on his own they weren’t doing anything special with him but the question is why? Do they see him as someone to fill a gap if they need him to? When you think of Bray he has had some great matches in the past. His last man standing match with Cena, his WrestleMania match with the Undertaker even his ladder match with Ambrose these were all great matches but why is he always the other guy? There is no denying he is great in the ring but why do we see this and WWE aren’t. To never have him hold any type of title while on the main roster is a huge statement for someone with his abilities.

His story lines up until Hell in a Cell weren’t very exciting and then introducing Strowman was not a good way to go. I have to admit I am still not impressed with him as I think they are going with the whole “strong man” too much and he is not working on his in ring abilities enough which leads him to be boring in the ring. When he attacked and took the Undertaker that was when I decided to write about him as I feel everything comes across as too random. His rivalry with Reigns was for me random he attacked him as he wanted someone other than him to win Money in the Bank  but there was no lead up to this, he just appeared. This led to a rivalry that was for me far too long. We saw them have the same match too much and it became boring to watch.

I think WWE play too much on the fact that his rivalries don’t need a lot to build up and he can randomly attack someone as it can be blamed on Sister Abigail telling him to do this or because, well because he wants to he doesn’t really need a reason. Does this still work though or is this what’s making things become stale? For me Bray, with or without the Family needs to have a rivalry that makes more sense and doesn’t leave people thinking what was that all about.

The end of Hell in a Cell left me thinking “Really!” as it was a lazy way to go however things did get interesting on RAW when they took Kane too. Last weeks promo on RAW when he now owns the fire and the lightning holding the hat and the mask is a great way to go and for me they have picked it up well and created a good buzz around a Wyatt family rivalry which we haven’t had for a while. I think this is because no one really knows where this is going. Are we going to see the Undertaker and Kane fighting with Bray? Are we going to get a Daniel Bryan moment when they act like they are then turn on them? Or are we going to see the Wyatt’s set up for once and Kane and the Undertaker fighting back?

One thing is for sure with it being the 25th anniversary of the Undertaker at Survivor Series we are definitely going to be seeing something big and I can’t wait to see what that is but it’s a little bitter sweet as Bray deserves so much more than what he is getting. Now that we have a vacant WWE World Heavy Weight Championship could we see the new face of evil as the champion? I guess that would be a long shot but it would be nice to see him having a legit title run and becoming a champion.

Thanks for reading and don’t forger to let me know what you think about Bray and the Wyatt family below. Are you a fan? Do you agree that he deserves more or do you like how things are done now and would like to see this continue?
