In this week’s WWMD, I decide to do what any wrestling fan would dream of doing – being in charge of WWE for 24 hours straight. What would I bring? What would I change? Let’s find out!
Start the UK TV Series
This is something that is on top of every UK based fans list of WWE wishes. The rest of the world has seen the quality and calibre of matches that Dunne and Bate can put on. If that doesn’t wet your appetite, we’ve got a country full of WWE main event calibre wrestlers. Giving them a weekly show, on the WWE Network or on a TV channel in the UK will give the exposure that can show the UK can produce top quality talent.
Keep the brands (totally) separate
The concept of having two brands for me is a no-brainer. It gives two different rosters the chance to shine. Opporutunity is given for midcarders to get a push to the top. It gives the talent on the peripheray of WWE the chance to get some time to work on their character. The recent news that the brands will start doing joint PPVs worries me. If they keep the same PPV time, it means that wrestlers won’t be on the shows. If they extend the PPV time, will the fans in the arena (and at home) run out of energy to keep watching? Having separate GMs in charge makes sense, keep the shows separate.
Bring back (a variation) of the Hardcore title
The reason I loved the Hardcore title was the unpredicabtility of it. You never knew who was going to show up in a Hardcore match. Two wrestlers could start in the ring and before you know it, three others have run to the ring and joined in. That unpredictability is what keeps people watching. If a viewer knows whats going to happen, then they won’t watch. Having matches start anywhere at any time means that viewers have to tune in.
Open up a (physical) Hall of Fame
I’m surprised this hasn’t happened already. The amount of money that WWE could make from a physical Hall of Fame would be staggering. It would be a license to print money. Having a Hall of Fame would give wrestling fans a Mecca to travel to. Hell, they could even include a WWE museum and get a load of stock out of the WWE warehouses. The merchandise they could sell, the ticket money they could generate, its a no brainer.
Closing thoughts
So that’s what I would do if I were in charge of WWE for a day. I could have done some quick wins – making Braun Strowman champion or sending Roman Reigns to NXT for a while – but I decided to go for big changes. What would you change? Let us know in the comments below!
