Hello one and all and welcome to the first WWMD of 2017! With WrestleMania on the horizon, one of the matches which seems to be certain to happen is Seth Rollins vs Triple H. WrestleMania is the stage to have this match on, so let’s see what needs to happen for it to come to light.
Let the wrestlers talk from the heart
The first thing to realise is that Rollins and Triple H can both talk. They can deliver fantastically on the mic so let them do that. This is a match which the physical intensity needs to be matched by the emotional and psychological intensity. Any match featuring Triple H will have decent promos, putting him in with Rollins will help no end deliver.
No physical altercations before WrestleMania
Like in the days of yesteryear, we saw matches with contract signings and no physicality allowed before the matches. This meant that when the two wrestlers hit the ring for the match, it meant a whole lot more. Looking at the Cerebal Assassin, there are multiple ways that he could hurt Rollins. Similarly, I’m sure that Rollins has a couple of friends he could call upon to help him out, should the need arise.
Use Shawn Michaels wisely
Adding a volatile element into the match is always good. Just like Triple H did when he wrestled The Undertaker, lets have Shawn as the special guest referee. Storyline wise it can easily be argued all the refs are on the payroll of WWE and Shawn isn’t. Seth and Shawn also have had very little interactions and haven’t wrestled either, so there should be no bias. It also gives the audience something else to keep them guessing and second guessing in the lead upto the match.
Put them both inside a Steel Cage
You have to go a long way back for the only other Steel Cage match at a WrestleMania (WrestleMania 2 featuring Hulk Hogan vs King Kong Bundy). Using a Steel Cage ensures that the wrestlers have to wrestle – no outside interference, no DQs, no count-outs – just two wrestlers fighting it out. It allows for the brutality factor which is needed for this match – the cage is as much of a weapon as the people within it. Look at some of the Steel Cage matches in the past that Triple H and Seth have featured in. Using the Steel Cage gives it edge, which the match wouldn’t get if it were a straight up normal match.
