So TLC is coming up this weekend and this year it will be given to us by the Raw brand. The name of the event (Tables, Ladders and Chairs), leads you to think that there would be multiple gimmick matches. However, there is only one. So today we look at how we can improve the matches on the card before they happen.
Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James – Ladders Match
I love a good Ladders Match and Mickie is one of my all time favourite female wrestler and Alexa Bliss, is, well Alexa Bliss. These two could have a LOT of fun with a Ladder and the title hanging in the balance. Let them tear it up and climb, jump, leap and destroy each other. We’ve seen Hell in a Cell, Steel Cage – now let’s have some ladders again!
Asuka vs Emma – Tables Match
So, Emma is the sacrificial lamb for Asuka’s main roster debut. What we need to see is a dominant, awe inspiring display from both women. What better is there than a Tables match. We’ve seen the womens division in WWE do extrodinary gimmick matches, so why not add a Tables match to the list? In the ring, out of the ring, on the stage – lets see some wood!
Kalisto vs Enzo Amore – Chairs Match
These two have got history of not liking each other. A Cruiserweight Ladder match could be fun, but I’ve used that for the Bliss-James match, so instead lets use steel chairs! This lets the wrestlers get out their frustration and anger in a friendly, fun way. Steel chairs are under utilised at the moment and have produced some memorable moments. Let’s get some steel on steel action!
The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher vs Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann – Tornado Tables Match
Tables Matches are fun. Tornado Table Matches are even more fun. All four in the ring, tables for wrestlers to be put through, Cruiserweights flying around the place. What’s the worst that can happen? With it being a Tables match means we might see the odd ladder or too thrown into the equation. Brian Kendrick can do some crazy work, so let him be crazy! Maybe even a Tornado TLC match?
Finn Balor vs Bray Wyatt – Inferno Match
OK, so I’ve cheated a little with this one. Firstly, I’m not calling it “The Demon” vs “Sister Abigail”. This isn’t Halloween Havoc. I know that an Inferno Match isn’t really using any Tables, Ladders or Chairs, but its a hell of a gimmick match. It’s the sort of match which fits both of these wrestlers REALLY well. It fits the story line REALLY well.
Closing thoughts
At the moment, the TLC PPV feels a little stale. They have the one gimmick match in the main event, which is going to be stupidly predictable (hint : Roman pins Kane). Adding some extra spice to the event will give everyone that added reason to tune in.
